Galaxy Note 2 Release Date: AT&T Announces in a 'Few Months;' Will Compete with Lumia 920 Specs, Kindle Fire 2,HD

The Galaxy Note II is right around the corner for U.S. carrier AT&T.

According to ChristianPost, the new Note will come in the next few months.

AT&T issued a press release on Oct. 1 confirming that it will offer the highly anticipated "phablet" hybrid and that it will be available in the very near future.

"Arriving later this year running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), Galaxy Note 2 with 4G LTE combines the productivity of a tablet with the convenience of a smartphone and the S Pen features you need to unleash your creativity," wrote AT&T.

However, AT&T did not provide customers with an exact release date.

According to reports, Samsung sent out invitations for an event that could be for the new "phablet."

Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 2 back in August.

According to Gottabemobile, "We imagine that Samsung will be hosting the event in the evening to celebrate the Galaxy Note 2′s arrival in the United States though we don't know if it will mark the release date or if Samsung will just provide the details at the event."

The previous rumor was that the Galaxy Note 2 will launch with AT&T on Oct. 21, but that has not been confirmed, and it looks like Oct. 24 is the date now.

"U.S. Cellular has said that its Galaxy Note 2, which is currently up for pre-order, will be arriving in October. Dates for Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon have yet to appear though Samsung previously said November and it could be that they will launch then," Gottabemobile reported.

The Galaxy Note 2 will feature a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen and 8-megapixel auto focus camera. It has a 1.6 Ghz quad-core processor and 4G LTE data speeds. It is also expected to have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean pre-installed and come with the S Pen experience.

The Galaxy Note 2 recently went on sale in the U.K.

Hexus reported:

The "phablet" is available for £34 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan with a guarantee of no surprise out-of-bundle data charges or £36 a month with an upfront cost of £69 on The One Plan. The device is also available on Pay As You Go for £499.99 plus a top up. All in One 15 costs £15 and gives 30-day access to all-you-can-eat data along with 300 any-network minutes and 3,000 texts. Or All in One 25 costs £25 and offers 500 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for a 30-day period.

The Galaxy Note 2 is in its own category, with it being either a smartphone or a tablet. It competes with smaller-sized tablets, such as the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD. It can also compete with Nokia's Lumia 920, which features a 4.5-inch screen, and is expected to release in October.
