'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Spoilers: Plot Details Revealed by Producer

As the finale aired last Mar. 1, fans of "Downton Abbey" are waiting for what will happen next. Luckily, show producer has hinted a couple of plot twists for the fans.

According to New York Times, Julian Fellowes, the show's producer, said that "Downton is a bumpy path."

When asked which character would get the "happy ending," the producer said, "Happiness is quite a difficult concept when you have an ongoing drama. What you can't do is have everything go right. Then you're just left with a couple saying, 'Did you have a good day, darling?' 'Terrific, why don't you sit down while I get dinner?'"

As for Violet, Fellowes said she loved the feeling of being "loved" and "desired."

After meeting Kuragin again, Violet was a "reminder of her great passion for him when she was young, but also the nearness that she came to making a great mistake that would've wrecked everything."

With Isobel and Lord Merton's love story, Fellowes said they are very "well suited" for each other. However, he also said that "when people are in love with each other and the children of one of them are being impossible, very often they do not understand how important this is going to be to their relationship in the coming years."

He did not, however, specify if the couple could be part of a happy ending or not.

Then, there is the seemingly never-ending struggle between Anna and Bates.

"I think in life there are people who are unlucky-the bread always falls with the butter side down...Bates and Anna have that, with a key difference, which is that they have a very strong love with each other," said Fellowes.

He highlighted Anna as the "one of the most admirable characters in the series."

"She' come from a tough childhood, we know now, and yet she hasn't allowed it to distort her. We live in this great excuse generation, where nothing's ever your own fault and everything's always because someone was terrible to you. I think that our lives are the result of our own choices, and when I see that in action I really admire it."

When he was asked if Tom Branson would be gone for good, he refused to divulge any details.

Speaking of lost characters, Maggie Smith, who plays Violet said "this is the last [season]" for her. "I can't see how it could go on," she told the Sunday Times. "I mean, I certainly can't keep going. To my knowledge, I must be 110 by now. We're into the late 1920s." The series began in the 1912 timeline.

"Downton Abbey" Season 6 production has already started, according to PBS
