Apple enthusiasts look forward to the company's next iPhone models every time it releases a new one; thus, speculations are rife about the Cupertino-based tech giant's upcoming iPhone, which, according to reports, is either an iPhone 6S (with a Plus version) or an iPhone 7.

While Apple itself hasn't revealed whether it will jump right into a new generation of its smartphone or simply cook up another flavor of its current pair of flagships, there are already leaks and rumors about the handset's specifications and features.

According to Independent, among the copious details and hearsays comes a rumor that the next iPhone will likely be a successor to the 5S rather than an iPhone 7. The site reasons that the upcoming smartphone from the tech titan will see no change in layout and design.

The site went on to claim that the battery life will last longer, the device will run faster and it will come with a pressure sensitive display. This will be possible, according to 9to5mac by equipping it with a "new special modem chip" from Qualcomm. The report also provided alleged leaked images of the device.

Gizmodo touts that with this processor on board the new iPhone, the internet speed will even be snappier. In fact, it can bump up the 4G LTE speed to 300 Mbps. By and whole, this Qualcomm-made chipset will help the handset function with improved stability and more efficiency.

With every new "S" generation introducing a new feature, it is said that the iPhone 6S will tag along the force touch feature, which Apple debuted in the Apple Watch. What this does is it sets up different functions and responses based on the user's touch pressure.

Meanwhile, International Business Times writes that while the iPhone 6S will be unchanged design-wise while the iPhone 7 will enjoy drastic modifications in its appearance. Recently, a new concept video for the device has emerged, where it showed the flagship to be ultra-thin with an eight-megapixel FaceTime camera and a 16-megapixel shooter at the back.

It is important to note that Apple is yet to corroborate or comment on the reports and leaks, so it is best to take this with a pinch of salt. Nevertheless, it is believed that Apple can pull off such impressive breakthroughs for their next iPhone. However, should Apple follow its usual release patterns, fans will have to wait for September to know what the tech giant is really up to.
