Ed Sheeran Acting Career All-Set! 'Thinking Out Loud' Hitmaker to Star in 'Gruesome' US TV Show

Ed Sheeran is going to showcase his acting skills. This time, not in a music video, but in an actual TV show.

The singer has landed a role in a TV show, Mirror UK reports. Moreover, it is reported to be a "gruesome" one.

"I can't say too much about it because the pilot just got picked up, which is good, but it's a TV show," he told The Sun newspaper. He said that the acting job is coming after July.

He also revealed what kind of show people can expect. "It's a medieval TV show and it's really, really dark. It's gruesome and it's going to be fine because my friend wrote it."

Moreover, he told the story of how he landed the role with help of the friend he mentioned. "He had a musician in his last show and I said, 'Oh did he audition for that?'"

"And he said 'No, but I just thought he would be good in it.' So I said, 'Can you put me in your show next?'"

Despite his booming success in music, Ed is really serious about trying his luck in the acting field.

In the same talk with The Sun, he recounted a story of him auditioning for a part in a British TV show.

"There was a part I auditioned for on an ITV show and it was music and acting. And I thought this would be fun and I got down to the final six."

"I said to myself if I got this, not more music just acting and if I didn't, no more acting, just music and I didn't. Then I just did music and it all went well."

What he meant by a music career that "went well" is that he is now a six-time Grammy award nominee, and is hitting the charts with crowd favorites like "Thinking Out Loud" and "Photograph."

Recently, according to Journal Sentinel, Ed reportedly sold out 23,000 seats in the Marcus Ampitheater at the Summerfest 2015 in Milwaukee.

Tickets for Ed's show at the 30,000-seater Melbourne Stadium is have also been selling like hotcakes. The tickets have been sold out in May but the show is not coming until December, themusic.com.au reports.

Earlier this year, another report from The Sun notes that Ed was reported to have been eyeing a guest role in the HBO hits TV series, "Game of Thrones".

"There were talks ages ago of me being an extra, which could have been cool," the songwriter said. "But everytime they shoot, it's the time I tour in the U.K."

While there is no appearance officially confirmed, Ed could have been or might someday be "Edward of House Sheeran, First of His Name, King of Sheerios."
