'The Mindy Project' Star Ike Barinholtz Wants to Make People Laugh in Upcoming Book

Ike Barinholtz isn't just your average funny actor. "The Mindy Project" star is officially an author and is taking the laughs to a paperback of his own, Yahoo reports. Grand Central Publishing is binding a collection of humorous essays written by the actor into a still-untitled book up for a fall 2017 launch.

In an official press release from the publisher that was picked up by Entertainment Weekly, the book, which will also come out in audio form, will follow the Hollywood celeb's crazy journey from being a "street thug" to a "tea party activist and a reality show watcher."

The publication says the comedian touched on a sundry of topics, with Yahoo confirming that there are parts of the book where Barinholtz shared his insight about sex on the first second and pizza on the next. The actor also had a lot to say about "delicious, heart-healthy crockpot recipes."

"I'm thrilled to be able to share my thoughts with the world, and my piping hot takes will cover all the bases: Comedy, showbiz, sex, Hollywood, the Chicago Bulls of the 90's, sex and drugs, movies, politics, the 'Biz', pizza and travel, religion and entertainment," Barinholtz said via Irish Examiner.

The comedian had one solid goal in mind in releasing the book of assorted and funny themes and said via the same site: "I just want people to say, "OH! THAT GUY, YEAH, HE'S FUNNY, I'LL BUY HIS BOOK, WHAT THE HELL, I'VE GOT LIKE A FIVE HOUR FLIGHT."

Barinholtz is the latest comedian to pen a book. As previously reported by Books N Review, his costar and protagonist in "The Mindy Project," Mindy Kaling is already on her second book titled "Why Not Me?" set for a Sept. 29 release.

Back in 2011, Kaling debuted as a writer with "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)," which AV Club hopes will share the same success with Barinholtz's upcoming book.

As per Yahoo, other funny stars who dipped their toes in the field of writing include Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman and Tina Fey. It was also reported by Books & Review that "The Big Bang Theory" star Kunal Nayyar is also releasing his memoir titled "Yes, My Accent Is Real: And Some Other Things I Haven't Told You" on Sept. 15.

While waiting for Barinholtz's book, fans can catch the comedian in the upcoming movie "Sisters" starring Poehler and Fey in December.
