'Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World' Book Reveals Reality Star's Shocking Earnings from TLC Shows

Everybody knows Kate Gosselin has got it rough. If you've ever tuned into an episode of either one of her TLC reality shows - "Jon and Kate Plus 8," and later just, "Kate Plus 8" - or seen her in an interview you know this. Oh, you didn't notice she had eight kids? Allow Gosselin to remind you just how difficult that is.

While Gosselin is keen to advertise herself and her kids as the plight of the modern single mom reality star, there are certain details of her life she's not so happy to discuss, like the fact that she's not such an average mom after all. The reality TV fixture reportedly earned at least $2,499,000 from the first five seasons of "Jon and Kate Plus 8," according to a new tell-all e-book by Robert Hoffman, "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World."

When "Kate Plus 8" was cancelled in 2011, Gosselin spoke to The Huffington Post about just how hard it was being a typical single working mom.

"I read what we apparently make and it's hysterical. That would be a dream come true times two million," said Gosselin in the 2011 interview. "So it's certainly way less than people think. We are not set for life. You know, I need to work as soon as possible -- as in yesterday."

Author Hoffman would like to respectfully disagree.

"This is a breakdown of money per episode for each season, not including bonuses and travel expenses, per diems, etc. from the Gosselin/Discovery contracts, which I have," writes author Robert Hoffman in the new e-book.

Season 1: $2,000 per episode x 9 episodes = $18,000

Season 2:

$5,000 per ½-hour episode x 9 episodes = $45,000

(3) 1 hour episodes=$15,000 extra

Season 2 Total=$60,000

Season 3:

$5,000 per ½-hour episode x 32 episodes = $160,000

(4) 1 hour episodes=$20,000 extra

Season 3 Total=$180,000

Season 4:

$9,000 per ½-hour episode x 41 episodes = $369,000

(8) 1 hour episodes=$72,000 extra

Season 4 Total=$441,000

Season 4 was renegotiated to $22,500 per ½-hour episode x 41 episodes = $922,500

(8) 1 hour episodes=$180,000 extra

Season 4 Total=$1,102,500

Season 5: $22,500 per ½-hour episode x 24 episodes = $540,000

(7) 1 hour episodes = $157,500 extra

Season 5 Total=$697,500

As The Huffington Post notes, the fame Gosselin attained from her reality shows also led to numerous paid endorsements, as well as her paid participation in "Dancing With The Stars."

Gosselin obviously has an image to protect. Hell, she's a brand at this point. Which would all certainly explain why Hoffman's book only lasted two days on Amazon before Gosselin's lawyers yanked it from the store.

Maintaining that average struggling single mom image is likely what motivated Gosselin to seek a blogging position at CouponCabin.com, which she was recently very publicly fired from. Gosselin was hired to write advice on how to save money with coupons. Promoting stores like Lowes and Home Depot she would write posts that commenters alleged had more to do with keeping her in the public eye than finding readers deals.

Perhaps taking issue with this same lack of authenticity, CouponCabin CEO Scott Kluth explained in a note to customers why the website fired Gosselin.

"A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago, and that Ms. Gosselin is simply not a good fit with the wonderful team and culture at CouponCabin."

Kluth continued, "It's with this that I am writing to inform you of our decision to discontinue Ms. Gosselin's feature blog on CouponCabin.com.

"Ms. Gosselin's contributions garnered both positive attention and criticism, but as always, I respect and appreciate your candid opinions, which often encourage us not to lose sight of our mission - to help YOU save money."

Various Books & Review commenters claim to have read the book, and that the contents are just as damning as Hoffman alleges.

One commenter even claims that an official book containing even more shocking accusations will soon be released.

"The book is being reedited and is going to be published by a major publisher and will include all the other things that Robert Hoffman found in the trash that Kate herself threw in the garbage to clean the garage apt. that Jon was staying in at the konpound.  All of these journals are all in her words, she did it to herself.  I am very nervous for the kids.  Hopefully, maybe Jon can go to court now and get full custody.  Steve was her bodyguard, but got promoted to ROAD MANAGER.  Then to get him a big paycheck, he then magically turned into the bodyguard.  I believe that is FRAUD!  GOD BLESS YOU CEO CC  MR. SCOTT KLUTH!  PERFECT!"

A sentiment that Hoffman echoes himself in the book: "The other 90 percent of the material I possess will not be published, ever, but you can be sure that if I'm falsely accused of anything and drug into court, or called a liar by Kate Gosselin or her lawyers, this information will come out then, including photographs," says Hoffman.
