Rebecca Romijn Opens Up About Being 'Blindsided' by John Stamos' Memoir

Rebecca Romijn, "Star Trek'' actress, finally speaks out about ex-husband John Stamos' memoir, "If You Would Have Told Me." The book, released nearly three months ago, has generated interest and discussions because it is full of intimate details about their marriage.

Memoir Revelations and Actress' Reaction

The 51-year-old actress expressed her feelings of being "blindsided" by Stamos' memoir, sharing her shock during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet.

In his book, Stamos says that Romijn was not faithful and talks about the emotional hurt from her betrayal. In interviews about the memoir, Stamos openly shared his difficult emotions during their divorce, admitting to Howard Stern that he felt emasculated as Romijn's career thrived while he faced challenges.

Romijn, married to Stamos for seven years from 1998, admitted her surprise and shock at the book's revelations. Despite the buzz generated by Stamos' disclosures, Romijn chose not to engage further or contribute to book sales through headlines.

Choosing Silence

While Romijn and her current husband, Jerry O'Connell, have largely remained silent about the memoir, O'Connell expressed his decision not to read it. Stamos had referred to Romijn as the "devil" in the book, a characterization that O'Connell found unappealing.

During an appearance on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM radio show, O'Connell mentioned that there was initially an interest in reading the memoir. After listening to Stamos' entire interview on The Howard Stern Show, he lost any desire to read the book.

As Stamos's disclosures and statements gained attention, Jerry O'Connell mentioned on The Talk that responding to the comments would bring attention to a situation he does not want to contribute to. He also expressed concern about their teenage children reading everything on the Internet, emphasizing the desire not to fuel any controversy.

Stamos' Past Struggles and Redemption

After the divorce, Stamos faced ongoing challenges that led him to drink excessively. He eventually sought help for his issues with alcohol following a DUI arrest in 2015. Stamos' memoir explores his marriage to Romijn and delves into his struggles, including his journey to sobriety.

The book also touches on various aspects of Stamos' life, such as discovering an intimate situation involving Teri Copley and Tony Danza and revealing past experiences of sexual abuse by a babysitter.

Romijn and O'Connell exchanged vows in 2007 and had 15-year-old twins, Charlie and Dolly. Stamos eventually tied the knot with Caitlin McHugh in February 2018 and welcomed their son, Billy, after two months.

As the discussion around "If You Would Have Told Me" continues, it remains to be seen if further perspectives or reactions will emerge from those involved in Stamos' life and the events described in the memoir. Romijn and O'Connell expressed no interest in commenting any further.
