Transgender Day of Visibility allows one to admire and celebrate the multifaceted tales of trans people. Books are great means of telling these experiences, difficulties, and achievements.

To honor this occasion, we compiled a list of five remarkable books offering diverse perspectives from the transgender community.

Brighter Than the Moon by David Valdes

Shy foster kid Jonas and confident vlogger Shani have formed a close online relationship, sharing memes and opening up to each other. While Shani is eager to meet in person, Jonas is unsure if he can meet her expectations. Jonas feels trapped in a lie and wants to come clean, but Shani's past experiences will make her hesitant to trust him fully.

Things become more complicated when Ash, Shani's best friend, develops feelings for Jonas. As secrets mount, the characters face their authentic selves and deal with online and real-life relationships. David Valdes presents a touching and insightful tale of self-discovery and honesty, ideal for readers who enjoy David Levithan and Adam Silvera's work.

Constellations by Kate Glasheen

"Constellations" is a raw graphic novel debut following Claire, a queer teen navigating life on the margins. Constantly questioned about their gender identity, Claire finds solace in their friendship with Greg and alcohol. However, spiraling into addiction and facing intense harassment at school led Claire to court-ordered rehab.

Surrounded by new friends and a supportive counselor, Claire begins to unpack their experiences. The novel follows Claire's path to sobriety and self-discovery despite facing obstacles. Illustrated by debut author-artist Kate Glasheen in watercolor and ink, the book portrays hope, humor, and survival.
