'Fight Club 2' Issue 1 Release Date & Comic Book News Update: Graphic Novel's Cover Revealed

Fans of Tyler Durden are in for a treat. The cover for the first issue in the series of "Fight Club 2", Palahniuk's highly-anticipated sequel to his novel, has been recently revealed, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly.

The graphic novel's cover features artwork done by David Mack. Earlier reports also said that Cameron Stewart is on board to illustrate the sequel. Stewart is known for his work in the upcoming "Batgirl" 2015 issues. Dark Horse Comics is set to publish the series, which is intended to include ten issues.

The sequel to Palahniuk's novel was first announced during the author's speaking engagement at the "Ode to Nerds" panel in 2013's San Diego Comic-Con. When asked about any upcoming work, the author hinted that he is to work on the graphic novel sequel to the book.

"I messed up and said I was doing the sequel in front of 1,500 geeks with telephones. Suddenly, there was this big scramble to honor my word," Palahniuk said in an interview with USA Today.

Soon after, the author officially released a statement through his official website regarding a possible series of graphic novel following the lives of main character The Narrator (or "Jack", among his many other names) and his alter ego, Tyler Durden.

According to Palahniuk, the sequel is set ten years after the events in the novel. Jack's lover Marla Singer is also part of the sequel. The sequel's plot will mostly revolve around Jack and Marla's problematic marriage, and with the disappearance their nine-year old son named Junior, Jack has no choice but to return to Project Mayhem.

"It will, of course, be dark and messy," Palahniuk revealed.

Furthermore, readers will get to know more about the magnetic and charming Tyler and his true origins in the next issues of the series. "Tyler is something that maybe has been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind," the author said.

Last month, The Wrap revealed a sneak-peek of an exclusive photo from the soon-to-be-released graphic novel, saying that the author is giving The American Dream a dark twist.

"Fight Club", Palahniuk's satirical novel released in 1996, became a cult classic after a 1999 movie adaptation starring Edward Norton as The Narrator, and Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden hit theaters.

"Fight Club 2" will be released in ten issues, all published by Dark Horse Comics. Issue 1 is set to be out on May 27.
