New 'Power Rangers' Comics Set for Introduction at San Diego Comic-Con! Get the Details Here

The "Power Rangers" comes back to life, at least, in comics.

Boom! Studios, in partnership with Saban Brands, has acquired the license to produce new "Mighty Morphin Power Ranger" comics, according to THR.

The revived comic series will be initially introduced at the San Diego Comic-Con to be held this July. Attendees will get a glimpse of an exclusive, one-page comics set.

The set will include six one-shot comics that features the different Rangers. The members of the Power Rangers include Jason the Red Ranger, the team leader; Zack the Black Ranger; Trini the Yellow Ranger; Billy the Blue Ranger; Kimberly the Pink Ranger; Tommy the Green Ranger.

BOOM!'s Editor-in-Chief, Matt Gagnon, told The Hollywood Reporter, "We have big, big plans that will build on the core universe of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

"We can't give too much away just yet, but the story we're kicking off with is vast in scope.

"Fans of BOOM! know we treat the existing properties we collaborate on with a focus on authenticity and quality. That's the same sensibility we're applying here."

The one-page comics to be revealed at the Comic-Con was written by Mairghread Scott and illustrated by Daniel Bayliss.

Scott is known for writing "The Transformers: Windblade" and is the first female to write an official "Transformers" comics.

The set will also include a backside pin-up by "RoboCop" artist, Goñi Montes.

"BOOM! Studios has developed an awesome new collection of Power Rangers comics," added Mary Rafferty, Saban Brands' Vice President of Global Consumer Products, said in a press release, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which launched as a global sensation more than two decades ago, is such a special part of the Power Rangers franchise. We are excited to share the classic story of these original Power Rangers in a brand-new way," she added.

The cast of the current Power Rangers series will be at the San Diego Comic-con on "Power Rangers Dino Charge Unleashed: Behind the Suit" at 7 pm, according to the Thursday program schedule.

Launched in 1993 as an American children television show, new seasons of Power Rangers had been launched every year except 2010. By 2015, the show already has 22 seasons.

Lionsgate announced in May 2014 that a new "Mighty Morphin Power Ranger" movie is coming, Deadline reports.

The live-action film is expected to hit theaters in 2017. It will feature high school kids trying to balance studies, social lives and their Ranger missions.
