'Captured Heart' by Heather McCollum Takes Historical Romance to Another Level [REVIEWS]

Have you ever captured someone's heart or vice versa?

If not, you may be inclined to after reading "Captured Heart."

"Captured Heart," written by Heather McCollum, was published on Sept. 11 by Entangled Publishing.

The 400-word book is described:

Fleeing with only her bow, horse, enormous pet wolf, and the cryptic clues hidden in her mother's medicine journal, healer Meg Boswell gallops north towards freedom, running from the man who falsely accused her mother of witchcraft. Cursed with magical healing abilities, Meg knows that if she's captured, she will die like her mother-atop a blazing witch's pyre.

Winter winds rip across the Highlands, pressing Chief Caden Macbain forward in his desperate plan to save his clan. He's not above using an innocent woman to bargain for peace if it keeps his clan from starving. But Meg isn't who Caden thinks she is, and when she kills a man to save the clan, he must choose between duty and her life. For although he captured her to force a peace, Meg's strength and courage have captured Caden's heart.

"Captured Heart" is book one of The Highland Hearts Series, according to McCollum's website.

The historical romance novel also got rave reviews:

"A deliciously satisfying read."

"I don't usually read historical romances (with a hint of paranormal), but I loved this book. I was thoroughly invested in the characters and felt like I was in 16th century Scotland. McCollum is an author to keep an eye on. Now, if only there was a way to make Caden real..... :)"

"Every now & again I stumble across a story that is simply a joy to read. Captured Hearts was one of those rare stories."

"So, so good! I loved this book! Captured Heart is a delightful historical romance with a hint of paranormal, a mix that works out beautifully."

"I found the writing style enjoyable. The plot is well-crafted and fast-paced, and the ending is satisfying. The characters are well-drawn and dimensional (even the villians), and relationship between Meg and Caden develops in a natural way."

"What a great story and I am so glad that I was offered this story from Netgalley. This has been one of my greatest surprises.. I seriously suggest you all check out this amazing new author.. I know I am on my way to get her other series The Dragonfly Chronicles.. I am that excited about her."
