It's no secret by now. The "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy is the publishing sensation of the decade. What began as a "Twilight" fan-fiction novel written on E.L. James' cellphone, and was originally self-published on the Internet, has inspired millions, and spawned countless imitators. With the film rights to the books sold we're hearing more and more casting rumors daily.

Kellen Lutz, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Matt Bomer, Robert Pattinson, and even Justin Beiber are among many actors' names that have already been mentioned in casting the leading role of Christian Grey, a troubled businessman who seduces an innocent college graduate called Anastasia Steele. Today, it seems we can add "New Girl" star Max Greenfield to the list of men already competing to slip into Mr. Grey's suit.  

Although, according to Greenfield, if he's cast as Grey, we shouldn't expect him to be wearing a suit, or much of anything at all. Telling E! News that he'd happily go full frontal for the role, Greenfield said, "Yeah, that's not a problem... That's not the issue. It's the issue of whether they want to see that much intensity onscreen, because that's what I plan to bring."

Of course, that level of intensity Greenfield's talking about largely depends on what kind of "Fifty Shades" movie producers decide to make. No one involved with the film has commented on what movie rating producers are aiming for.

Greenfield playing Christian Grey is definitely an intriguing choice to the already surprising list of stars vying for the role. If he was to play the part, it certainly sounds like a good fit to us. Especially considering the recent news that fellow "New Girl" actress Carla Gugino is currently being considered for the part of Mrs. Robinson to his Mr. Grey.

Not to mention Carla Gugino is currently portraying a sex-starved school superior to Greenfield's "New Girl" character, Schmidt.  

"The two will engage in a Fifty Shades of Grey-like relationship when Schmidt is forced to sign a contract that binds him to Emma," Entertainment Weekly reports. The contract seems similar to the contract made by Christian Grey for Anastasia Steele in "Fifty Shades of Grey."

According to recent reports, the 41-year-old Carla Gugino might be a good candidate for the role of Mrs. Robinson. "Carla is a very captivating cougar. She stripped down in "Sin City," starred as a pregnant porn star in "Elektra Luxx" and played a sexy superhero in "Watchmen." Clearly, the woman has no problem with sex and violence. Maybe she'd make the perfect 'Mrs. Robinson' in the 50 Shades movie," GatherEntertainment said.

The character Mrs. Robinson plays an important role in the life of sexy billionaire Christian Grey as his first sexual encounter. Mrs. Robinson introduced Grey to the world of BDSM. Robinson coaxed Grey into an affair that lasted until Grey turned 21, and was discovered by her husband.

Since being published last year, "Fifty Shades" has become notorious for its explicit sexual content and controversial portrayal of a relationship involving BDSM. The novel has sold more than 30 million copies in the U.S., and more than 10 million copies to British readers, making James' book the UK's fastest-selling book of all time. All three books from James' trilogy have remained in the top five of The New Yorks Times' bestsellers list for over three months. The first book is currently being adapted into a film by Universal and Focus Features.

James has been tightlipped on confirming or denying any casting rumors. And while names like David Cronenberg, and Bret Easton Ellis have floated around for director and scriptwriter, as of yet, no one is confirmed.

Author James revealed recently that while she's currently focused on writing new material, she hasn't ruled out writing a fourth book entirely for her hugely-popular "Fifty Shades" series.

BDSM More Popular Than Ever, Especially With New Yorkers

James said that when she finished the third book, she felt she had completed the couple's tale, saying "I left them in a really, really good place. But there seems to be lots of people clamoring for a fourth book in the trilogy," said James, whose books have become a publishing sensation, so far selling 31 million copies worldwide.

When asked about a fourth book, she replied, "We'll see."
