Omid Scobie's 'Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival,' which shows an in-depth look into the current situation of the British royal family, was released on November 28 and has been riddled with controversy with its explosive revelations.

However, despite the huge amount of media coverage it garnered, 'Endgame' slipped quite a bit on the charts, which track how well publications are selling in real time and over time on Amazon UK, one week after its release. It fell over a hundred spots from where it was just a few days back, going from no. 14 as of December 1 to no. 139 as of December 5. Its huge promotional push in the first week did not keep it high on the list for long.

Racist Remarks Caused Halt of 'Endgame' Book Selling in the Netherlands

'Endgame' stopped being sold in the Netherlands due to the racist comments some members of the royal family made toward the skin color of Archie, son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. At first, they said it was King Charles, but others claimed it was Kate Middleton. However, no one from the Sussex House, Cambridge House, or the palace wanted to comment on the rumors when reporters asked.

The rumors started after Meghan told Oprah in 2021 how some royals had issues with how dark Archie's skin color may be. Meghan did not say exactly who, but she was worried about what would happen.

Later, Oprah said that in a private setting, Harry told her that the late Queen and Prince Philip were not a part of those conversations. In response, Buckingham Palace said they understood why everyone was making a huge deal about what was said, especially with racism being involved.

They added that they are taking the issue seriously while pointing out things that may have yet to be remembered perfectly by all. Still, what was alleged has continued to be a huge topic of discussion among the royal family and their staff. However, none have publicly stated their side of it so far.

Although rumors arose from the Dutch version, which included claims that Prince Charles stopped Harry from saying goodbye to the Queen, William ignored Harry during the Queen's passing, and the King had a scandal about getting money for honors, the English copy was said to lack such statements. However, as Meghan admitted that she helped in the making of Scobie's previous book 'Finding Freedom,' this issue became even messier. The shocking allegations in the Dutch variation sparked heated debates, emphasizing the differences between language versions.

Kate Middleton was Part of the Talk

When the book was published, rumors indicated that Kate Middleton was one of the people in the royal family who made racist comments against Archie's skin color. Another important person in the royal family was also said to be in those conversations, as hinted later on. Dutch Journalist Rick Evers, who has been a royal correspondent for 14 years, pointed out that although one thing is obvious, the other is still unclear. On 'Good Morning Britain,' Evers expressed doubts about translation issues, emphasizing the clarity of the initial implication. These claims indicated that what was written in the book and the lapse in translations made the issue more complex.
