In a groundbreaking collaboration, the renowned studio Platige Image, content broker Mount Devil, and the executive producer of 'The Wheel of Time,' Mike Weber, are set to bring to life an extraordinary TV series adaptation of Tad Williams' four-book cyberpunk-fantasy series, 'Otherland.'

Known for their outstanding work on 'The Witcher' and contributions to 'Love, Death and Robots,' Platige Image is set to showcase their innovative techniques in animation and visual effects, having earned praise with game cinematic credits such as 'Metro Exodus,' 'Cyberpunk 2077,' and 'Call of Duty: Warzone.' With a rich history spanning over two decades, Platige Image is ready to bring its creative touch to the world of 'Otherland.'

Joining forces with Platige Image is the relatively new yet dynamic content broker and co-producer, Mount Devil. Established in 2020, Mount Devil has swiftly made a mark by identifying and acquiring exceptional ideas, licenses, and stories, with a vision to develop them into compelling series and films.

Weber is set to bring his expertise as the executive producer of 'Otherland.' Weber, credited as the architect of 'The Wheel of Time,' continues to make waves from his base in London. Having overseen the development and production of 'The Wheel of Time' after successfully pitching the project to Sony Pictures TV and selling it to Amazon, Weber is a seasoned professional in fantasy television.

Weber expressed his belief in Williams' work, stating that Williams' book comprehensively defines the conflict between human experience and technological advancement. Weber said the book portrays a future that is not far off, where deciding to exist in either the tangible reality or the virtual world becomes a critical choice with life-or-death consequences. Weber highlighted the clairvoyant themes and fantastic characters of 'Otherland,' emphasizing its potential to become a next-level sci-fi drama series adaptation.

The TV series is based on Williams' four-book series, described as an epic cyberpunk fantasy adventure. The narrative revolves around the concept that our world has an extra dimension. This hyper-realistic VR arena has become a new hub for entertainment, work, and education and a breeding ground for depravity, crime, and abuse. The mysterious Otherland, presumed to be another layer of the network, is the starting point for a multi-realm adventure featuring Inception-like mechanics with realms ranging from intergalactic taverns to medieval fantasies and World War I battlegrounds.

The producing team of 'Otherland' has secured financial support from Creative Europe Media and is currently interviewing potential writers and showrunners. As the project takes shape, anticipation builds for a sci-fi drama series that promises to explore the delicate balance between human experience and the ever-evolving landscape of technological advancements. With the combined expertise of Platige Image, Mount Devil, and Mike Weber, 'Otherland' is set to become a compelling addition to TV adaptations.
