Marjorie Taylor Greene, the far-right Congresswoman from Georgia and a prominent Trump supporter, experienced a notable setback during her book signing tour. The tour featuring her tell-all book "MTG" took place in Florida over the weekend, but unfortunately for Greene, the turnout was far from what she might have expected.

Despite her strong support for Trump and a book on shelves since November 21, the crowds at her signings were almost non-existent. This ironic twist of a Trump-aligned figure struggling to sell her own book has not gone unnoticed.

Low Crowd Attendance in Book Signing Event

Greene's embarrassment was further exposed when photos circulated on social media platforms, showing her signing books in nearly empty outdoor venues with only a handful of attendees. In one instance, pictures depicted her signing books at what appeared to be a preschool, where the photos suggested an absence of the anticipated crowds.

This incident was not the only setback on Greene's book tour. A Florida venue, Westgate Resorts, canceled one of her book signings when it was revealed that the event was being promoted as a celebration of the third anniversary of the January 6 attack on the Capitol. The venue decided to back out of supporting the event after Anna V. Eskamani shared a screenshot on social media, indicating that the book signing coincided with the 3rd anniversary of January 6.

Mark Cross, the Chair of the Osceola County GOP Committee and the person responsible for the event clarified in a statement to The Hill that despite media reports claiming the event's cancellation, it is, in fact, untrue. He emphasized the commitment to proceed with the event and anticipated Marjorie Taylor Greene's presence in Orlando the following day.

In response to the criticism, Greene opted to deflect blame onto Democrats and push another conspiracy theory rather than addressing the distasteful use of the Capitol attack for promotional purposes.

Greene's attempt to play the victim is ironic, especially considering her past efforts to ban books. While Republicans may argue that banning books in schools is not censorship, the lackluster response to her book signings suggests that private businesses opting not to host her events is an entirely different matter.

The Book in Question

Greene's book "MTG" is about her life in Congress and much more. She narrates her life from owning a small town business to becoming one of Donald Trump's supporters for his MAGA campaign. She supported Trump's allegation that he was robbed of his win in the 2020 election. Greene also minimized the seriousness of what happened with the Capitol riot in 2020, during which five people died.

Greene's humiliation does not end with the book signing event. The FEC fined her $12,000 for allegedly engaging in illegal fundraising, claiming that Greene broke the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 by soliciting money not intended for federal purposes. She shared an ad for a political action committee called "Stop Socialism Now PAC" on her official social media accounts related to her campaign.

While some may view this episode as petty, for those weary of the ongoing political drama, it serves as a moment of levity amid the challenges of the current election cycle.
