Anne Hathaway To Star In Movie Adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew'?

Recent reports have it that Anne Hathaway might play the lead role in the movie adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew"

After winning the Golden Globe award for "Les Miserables", rumors of Anne Hathaway being cast in future projects have already started making the rounds. The latest is that the "Princess Diaries" actress will play the lead role of Katherina (Kate) Minola in British screenwriter Abi Morgan's movie adaptation of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew".

While no director has been linked directly to the movie, talks have it that producer of "Les Miserables" Debra Hayward will produce the film along with British production company Working Title. The movie will reportedly be set in a mid-20th century Italy setting.

This is not the first time this comedy has been made into a film. In 1967, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton starred in the first film version of "The Taming of the Shrew."

Hathaway seems to have her hands full with future projects. She had been set to star opposite Chris Hemsworth in Steven Spielberg's sci-fi adaptation Robopocalypse, which has been pushed back.
