Reports have it that Katie Holmes has shown interest in playing the role of Mrs. Robinson, Christian Grey's former lover in the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Casting for the movie adaptation of E.L. James' kinky novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" has taken the film industry by storm. While most celebrities have expressed their desire to be a part of the film, many unexpected names have been roped in for roles in the highly anticipated movie.

Much to the fans' disappointment, Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam were given the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey respectively. However, days after the announcement Hunnam pulled out of the film and Jamie Dornan was signed for the protagonist's role.

Now, reports have it that actress Katie Holmes has expressed her desire to play the role of Mrs. Robinson aka Elena Lincoln, Grey's former lover. Sources told the National Enquirer that Holmes thinks she would be perfect for the role and hopes E.L. James and "Team 50" give her a chance.

"She's looking at this as the role of a lifetime for her," the source said. "It will shock a lot of people, but she thinks Hollywood will sit up and take notice. She knows she has to reinvent herself."

Ever since her divorce with Tom Cruise, the "Dawson Creek" actress' acting career took a back seat as she spent most of her time pursuing a career as a designer. Now it seems like the actress want to get her Hollywood career back on track and bagging the role of Elena would definitely thrust her into the spotlight.

This news has received mixed reactions from fans on Twitter. While some of them think she'll do justice to the role, others think casting her would be another misfit for the film.
