‘The Office’ Star Mindy Kaling Spills Details on Upcoming Book Collab With BJ Novak

Comedian Mindy Kaling clarified earlier reports that her upcoming book collaboration with another comedian, BJ Novak, will be a tell-all, reports Entertainment WeeklyPosting on her Twitter account, Kaling went on to clear up the speculations.

"Thanks for asking about the book @bjnovak & I are working on! It's not a tell-all, sadly. I can say it's going to be really funny and cool," she wrote. She also added that they are still in the process of brainstorming and researching content for the book, and that she is "not trying to be mysterious" about it. Ever the funny gal, Kaling posted her announcement together with a picture right out of a children's book, showing two frogs eating cookies, saying, "Here is a cool pic of us working at my house."

Just last week, NY Daily News reported that the book will be about their "off-and-on-romance" including stories about their "complicated courtship" during their stint in the NBC sitcom "The Office." The report further added that Kaling and Novak's paycheck for the book deal is a whopping $7.5 million - a number not far from other celebrities who penned their own books including Lena Dunham and Hillary Clinton.

The pair worked together in the popular sitcom and reportedly started dating each other while on the show, according to Bustle. However, Kaling and Novak broke up, then got back together again before finally deciding to end their relationship and just remain good friends. In the June 2015 cover of Instyle magazine with Kaling on the cover, she described their relationship as "weird as hell," saying that Novak is "not her boyfriend" but also "not [her] best friend," according to E Online.

Aside from being comedians, Kaling and Novak are both accomplished authors as well. This may be the reason why fans are quick to believe the speculations about their tell-all book. Kaling's debut, "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? And Other Concerns" went on to become a bestseller in 2011. Her next book, "Why Not Me?" is set for its release on September.

Meanwhile, Novak released a bestselling children's book, titled "The Book With No Pictures," last year. Just recently, his collection of fictional short stories, called "One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories," received to positive reviews.

The news surrounding Kaling and Novak's book coincides with the upcoming Book Con wherein the pair will appear together to speak in a panel. Hence, further information regarding their book might be revealed during their panel appearance.
