'Paper Towns' Movie Release Date & Cast News: Cara Delevingne Reveals Being Told She's 'Just A Model’

Looking at supermodel Cara Delevingne, one will not suspect that she is experiencing a feeling of emptiness due to her vibrant attitude. The 22-year-old is beautiful, successful and among the most photographed celebrities today. According to her recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, however, all the glitz and glamor of fashion left her feeling empty.

"I ended up feeling a bit empty," Delevingne said. "Fashion is about what's on the outside, and that's it," she added. Furthermore, she said that she does not want to be a "model-slash-actress," saying that being one is considered a "cliche."

The star of the much-anticipated movie adaptation of John Green's smash hit, 'Paper Towns,' also revealed that she originally wanted to be an actress as early as 5 years old but her modelling career made it difficult for her to realize her dream. She shared that "modeling actually makes acting harder" because it can make one "self-aware."

"I basically gave up on acting because trying to get an agent was impossible," according to Delevingne. She discussed how people in the film industry see models. "Everyone said, 'You're just a model'. Once I had my mindset that I was going to do this modelling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense? Win it," she disclosed.

Delevingne first showed off her acting chops in 2012's 'Anna Karenina' when she portrayed the role of Princess Sorokina. In 2014, she starred in a short film for fashion giant Chanel which was directed by Karl Lagerfeld. Her co-star in the movie project, Pharrell Williams, was all praises for Delevingne. He said, "She's a natural-she jumps into whatever character she is supposed to be."

Playing the role of Margo was certainly not an easy task for the newcomer. The role required her to be free-spirited and fun-loving while also showing the character's vulnerability, angst and feelings of being alienated. "Cara needed to hit these moments where we could see beneath the veneer," said 'Paper Towns' director Jack Schreier. During her audition for the role, Delevingne acted out a scene together with her co-star, Nat Wolff, in which they "both ended up crying" because of their intense connection.

After 'Paper Towns' opens in theaters on July 24, it seems that there is no stopping Delevigne from acting in more films. Just in 2015 alone, she is slated to appear in five feature movies, while her upcoming movie, 'Suicide Squad,' is set to be released next year and is currently in its production phase. Just recently, Fashion & Style reported that Delevingne has been cast to play the role of Leila Williams in 'Fifty Shades Darker.'
