iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Release Date Tipped! Apple's Largest Production Ever? Specs, Features & Price Here [Rumors]

Apple is gearing up for what is expected to be the largest iPhone production ever.

The company ordered suppliers to manufacture 85 million to 90 million units of two upcoming models, The Wall Street Journal reports. Sources reveal that Apple wants it by December 31.

The report also said that the screen size would remain the same as well as its resolution.

The Taiwan-based company, Wistron, may also be involved in the production of the new iPhones.

While there is no mention about which models are to be released, there are already rumors, according to Know Your Mobile, that Apple has big plans for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Here are the rumored features that iPhone 7 and 7 Plus might have:

iOS 9

Apple unveiled the iOS 9 on June 8, announcing in a press release via the company's website that it will have new features and apps.

The new software will let users work with two apps side-by-side, watch a floating video while using another app and experience the Picture-in-Picture feature.

New built-in apps are also coming including necessities like travel, notes and news apps.

"iOS 9 is packed with more intelligence throughout, and delivers big updates to the apps customers use most," said Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering said.

The press release also notes that, "Maps supports public transit, a redesigned Notes app provides great new ways to capture ideas, and a beautiful News app delivers content that's personalized to your interests."

Force Touch Technology

According to The Verge, future iPhone models would have a Force Touch display, which was first introduced through Apple Watch.

Current smartphones can detect the double taps or long presses. However, it does not detect how hard the user is pressing down. The new Force Touch display allows this.

Moreover, a new color, rose gold, may be added to the three choices for current iPhones which are silver, gold and space gray.

Currently, iPhone prices range from $199 to $399 for iPhone 6 and $299 to $499 for iPhone 6 Plus. The price depends on the capacity, which ranges from 16GB to 128 GB.

Better Selfies

The next iPhone model may offer a front camera with a flash, The Independent reports. Moreover, the camera may also have an upgrade from 720p to 1080p with features allowing panorama shots and slow motion videos.

The report also says a new iPhone may be announced in August or September.

Correspondents Luk Lorraine and Daisuke Wakabayashi of The Wall Street Journal discussed Apple's strategy for new releases in an article.

According to them, "Apple tends to release new iPhones in a 'ticktock' cycle," they said. "In a 'tick' year, Apple introduces a major design change, such as last year's bigger displays."

"In the following 'tock' year, it refines the previous year's design and sometimes makes more significant changes to the software."
