Sony Project Morpheus Release Date & Price: VR Headset Appearing in GameStop EXPO, Consumer Model in Q2 2016

Before the future of gaming becomes now, GameStop EXPO will first give gamers a sweet glimpse of it by presenting Sony's Project Morpheus Virtual Reality headset. Those who will swing by the event will get to play a bounty of Morpheus games wearing the head-mounted display for the ultimate gaming experience.

According to VR Focus, the futuristic gizmo made a stop during the Electronic Entertainment Expo last month. But its much-awaited sojourn at the forthcoming convention is simply special for GameStop Director of Merchandising, Eric Bright, who has seen it work its magic.

"Having experienced virtual reality with Project Morpheus at E3 this year, I can confidently say that this is something that truly must be seen to be believed," Bright said in a press release picked up by Gamespot.

Those who want to try out the Sony Morpheus VR headset can head to the GameStop EXPO on September 2 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, as per VR Focus.

Gamespot also reported that the copious demo booths will cover up the entire 250,000 square feet of the venue.

Apart from that, there will be prizes up for grabs and celebrities appearances. Check out the GameStop EXPO 2015 page for the upcoming event to learn how to secure tickets and get to know everything about the event and the Sony Morpheus VR headset.

When the Sony Morpheus Project was brought to E3, there wasn't a bit of info about when the device will be officially be available to the public. But according to Christian Today, the gadget of the future will be out and about by Q2 2016.

This means that by April, May or June next year, the Sony offering will be for the taking. Hardcore Gamer, who first broke the news, cites an Australia-based retailer that reportedly published a listing for the Sony Morpheus with the said release window.

Christian Today also listed that the gaming accessory will be sold for £399, which, as of this writing, should be around $445-$450. As gamers would notice, it is pricier than an actual PS4, which retails for $399. It remains to be seen if this leaked listing is accurate.

For now, gamers who are excited to see the Sony Morpheus headset in action will have to wait for GameStop EXPO, which should provide on the actual release date. As for the pricing, Sony already told GameIndustry International that it is "too early" to discuss that aspect.
