William Shakespeare Biography to Be Penned by London Mayor Boris Johnson

London Mayor Boris Johnson will write a biography of William Shakespeare in commemoration of the celebrated playwright's 400th death anniversary next year, The Independent has learned. This will be Johnson's fourth job and the most money-making one too.

The politician's writing engagement will pay him a good £500,000. His columns for The Telegraph have him scooping up £275,000 more. He was also recently designated as the MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip and from this gig, he nets an additional £74,000. As a Mayor, he gets £47,970.

As per The Independent, making a sensation out of this William Shakespeare biography, which should bring the politician's number of published masterpieces to a dozen, is no easy feat as there will be other books to be released to honor the greatest dramatist to have walked the Earth.

When it releases in 2016, Johnson's work will compete with other masterworks written by other scholars with the likes of James Shapiro, Stanley Wells and Paul Edmondson. Another rival to worry about is the novelized version of "The Winter's Tale" from Jeanette Winterson.

However, Hodder, the publishing company who shook its hands with Johnson's for the lucrative deal, seems to be very confident, offering the part-time politician and part-time writer compensation that's roughly 10 times more than what he gets as the Mayor of London.

Perhaps this juggernaut of a paycheck will be justified with Johnson's impressive literary achievements. Johnson wrote the biography for Winston Churchill titled "The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History" released October last year.

According to The Sunday Times, his work was a literary success and was lauded by critics. There are already 160,000 copies sold ever since it hit the shelves. Johnson could easily pull off such achievement but with William Shakespeare this time.

The Independent adds that the book deal had many doubting his Parliament comeback. In an interview with the publication last month, Johnson jokingly described his newfound role as the MP "zero-hours contract," disgruntledly remarking that "Well it's not exactly a job, is it?"

According to City AM, Johnson is being eyed to square off against David Cameron to become Prime Minister, quipping that this will be the politician's fifth job. By next year, all of his jobs will score him £897,000.

With regards to the William Shakespeare biography, details are very scanty although big details should trickle in as Johnson gets on his desk and does the writing. The biography will release in time for Bard's death anniversary next year.
