Twi-hard Fans are making it difficult for this news to appear real. Could the photos really have been messed with?
E! Online reported that Liberty Ross deleted her Twitter account after mysteriously posting tweets referring to the affair before it was exposed.
According to sources, People Magazine reported that the hookup with Stewart's Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders occurred recently.
"Kristen is absolutely devastated," said one source. "It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgment."
"She wasn't having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn't have happened," said the source. "She never meant to hurt anyone. She's a good person who just made a bad choice."
Stewart and Pattinson met on the first "Twilight" set in 2008 and have been dating ever since. In recent Robsten news, sources even said that the couple has been getting stronger than ever in the past months.
"Their relationship seemed stronger than ever," a source said according to Hollywood Life. "Rob wants to spend the rest of his life with her."
Stewart was notorious for not wanting to show PDA with Pattinson but at a recent wedding in NJ, he thought she was acting a bit more relaxed.
"They were glued to each other," a source said. "She even told one of the guests that she would love to have a baby with Rob."
Rumors of the couple getting married and having babies has also recently spread, but could those plans now be in jeopardy?
In an interview with Vanity Fair Italy, Pattinson said that he didn't understand why people cheat and that he doesn't approve of it.
"Life is not black and white. There are married couples that never see each other. Is that marriage? But there's a thing I've never got, that is why do people cheat?"
"I'm not the casual-affair kind of guy. If I choose to be with someone it's because I really want it. When I have a relationship, I'm 100% into it. If I felt like seeing more women at once then I wouldn't go around saying 'this is my girlfriend'."
It looks like Stewart has some explaining to do. This could also compromise the promotion for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2," which is being released in theaters November 16, 2012.
