Kristen Stewart Cheated on Robert Pattinson Update: Couple Caught Fighting Backstage of Teen Choice Awards; Rupert Sanders' Father Speaks Out

New reports suggest that Robert Pattinson already knew about his girlfriend's, Kristen Stewart, cheating scandal before the news broke out publicly.

Us Weekly recently reported that Stewart, 22, cheated on her "vampire" boyfriend Robert Pattinson, 26, with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.

Fox News reported that Pattinson and Stewart were seen fighting backstage at the Teen Choice Awards last Sunday night, just days after her "momentary indiscretion" with Sanders.

"Rob and Kristen were having a long and intense conversation backstage, and he looked miserable, heartbroken and humiliated. She was pleading," a source told Page Six.

"Rob is deeply in love with Kristen and is very jealous when other men hit on her. This will crush him," the source told the Post.

Stewart issued a public apology with People Magazine, saying, "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," Stewart said in a statement Wednesday."

Sanders, 41, is married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross, 33, and has two children with her, ages 7 and 5.

He issued a statement of his own, saying, "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Sanders told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

Sources told People Magazine that is wasn't a full-blown affair, and that Stewart made a mistake.

"She wasn't having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn't have happened," the source said. "She never meant to hurt anyone. She's a good person who just made a bad choice."

Twi-hard fans are devastated about the breaking news, and even disappointed in Stewart, but will it affect promotion for the epic finale of "The Twilight Saga?"

CBS News reported that the scandal involving the on-and-off screen couple is unlikely to affect box-office returns for "Breaking Dawn Part 2," releasing in theaters Nov. 16, 2012. It won't even harm the image of the "Twilight" actress.

"It could make her actually more alluring," said Ian Drew, a senior editor at Us Weekly magazine, which features compromising photos of Stewart and Sanders in its latest issue, out Friday. "It's not like Sally Field did this, so it could actually enhance her appeal and make her even bigger."

Sanders' father, Michael, told People Magazine that what happened was made about to be big when it really shouldn't have.

"From what I gather nothing really happened and it is all a lot of fuss about nothing. I should imagine it was something very brief," he said. "She is a very pretty girl and when you work that closely with someone for so long, sometimes things happen."

Michael also defended his son's character, arguing that he is far from the philander the press is making him out to be. "He is very honorable, hardworking and [a] dedicated father and filmmaker."

As for Sanders's relationship with Ross recovering from this shocking incident, Michael remains optimistic.

"Of course their relationship will survive this. This is nothing - they will definitely survive all of this. It is all a lot of fuss about nothing."

Pattinson or Ross haven't publicly spoke about the recent drama, but let's hope, for fans sakes, that the beloved couple will be able to recover from this.
