'Vampire Diaries' Season 4 News: Daniel Gillies, Steven R. McQueen Talk Show's Direction (New Pics)

Can you feel the cold in your bones yet? We're only a little more than a month away from the season four premiere of "The Vampire Diaries," and information about the premiere episode is starting to leak out, little by little. That's great news for those who are curious about the premiere, but not so great for those who want to get there spoiler-free... so, read on at your own risk you mortals.

The latest offerings from the series adapted from L. J. Smith's young adult novel's of the same name, include some cast photos, which are basically just eye candy to get us all riled up, and a couple of stills from the episode itself, which provide a little more context for where things might be going. One of the images features Elena locked up in a cage, looking rather grumpy about the situation. It seems that, as a baby-vamp, she's having a lot of trouble with her cravings and needs some bars to keep her from doing what she knows deep down she doesn't want to do.

Another photo shows Bonnie and Jeremy together, and it looks very much like they're in the middle of some kind of spell. Some sources close to the production reveal that Elena will be getting her daylight ring pretty early on, and Bonnie will be creating it for her... though we hear that Stefan will do the presenting.

On Saturday, Spoilers Guide shared a new interview with Daniel Gillies about his character Elijah. Gillies has appeared on the CW on and off since the "Originals" arrived, and he is not going away yet. Even though Gillies now has another series on air with "Saving Hope" on NBC, Elijah will definitely appear on season four. "Saving Hope" has not yet been picked up NBC for a second season, but the series has been picked up for season two by CTV in Canada.

"Elijah will definitely be back," said Gillies. "I think as long as there are vampires on the show that Elijah will be back. I mean he seems pretty indestructible at this point. With four deaths on my belt, I think I'm pretty much bullet proof at this point."

Gillies has become a fan favorite for this character, and he has no idea why Elijah has gained such popularity with the fans. But he's definitely thankful for the warm response -- his popularity has kept him on the series. Julie Plec has pointed this out about both Elijah and Klaus time and time again.

As one of the few lingering humans in Mystic Falls, and especially now that his own sister's become a vampire, Jeremy Gilbert's going to have an interesting future on The Vampire Diaries. And to hear Steven R. McQueen talk, things could get exciting indeed in Jeremy-land during Season 4.

Steven chatted with Fanbolt about what's to come for Jeremy and the gang and said that while he suspects Elena (Nina Dobrev)'s baby brother will be a little "grateful" that she isn't a complete goner (even if he could still communicate with her from the beyond), he's not exactly going to be thrilled about it.

According to McQueen, it will most weigh on Jeremy that he "contributed to the death of his sister, and caused, and helped plan it."

As a result, McQueen predicts "he'll start to explode a little more this season, and hopefully take charge. Fight back a little!" After all, the family business is vampire-hunting, and the town's former frontrunner in that department - Alaric Saltzman - is out of the picture for at least a little while. Steven's preferred weapon of choice for the character? The crossbow.

As for Jeremy's romantic future, McQueen thinks revisiting his relationship with Bonnie (Kat Graham) might be a possibility. "I think they have unfinished business, and I think there's still something there," he teased.

Producer Julie Plec has even gotten in on the rumor-baiting fun. She promises that fans are in for a real treat this season.

"...as for what the future holds now that Elena is of the night. All these things she's experienced with Damon and Stefan will have different context for her as she's becoming this new person," said Plec.

"This circumstance, which is pretty horrific, is going to make them all care about each other even more deeply and argue even more intensely and fracture even more greatly and love as deeply as possible."

Season Four of "The Vampire Diaries" premieres October 11, 2012.
