Author Bret Easton Ellis Say Kathryn Bigelow is "Overrated" Because She's "Hot"

Author Bret Easton Ellis took to his twitter account to claim that director Kathryn Bigelow is "overrated" because she's hot.

Author Bret Easton Ellis has, even in the past created quite a few controversies with his tweets. Previous, his tweet suggesting actor Matt Bomber was "too gay" to play a role in the movie adaptation of EL Jame's novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" created quite a stir in the Internet world.

Now, the author has yet again brewed up a controversy with this tweet suggestion award winning director Kathryn Bigelow is "overrated" because "she's a hot woman."

The author tweeted: "Kathryn Bigelow: Strange Days, K-19: The Widowmaker, Blue Steel, The Hurt Locker. Are we talking about visionary film-making or just OK junk?" Following that, he wrote: "Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting film-maker if she was a man but since she's a very hot woman she's really overrated."

Fans and twitter followers were quick to comment on Ellis' tweet, condemning him of gaining success because of his looks too. "I would be so much more successful if I was hot. #BretEastonEllisIsAnEffingMoron," tweeted Prometheus screenwriter Damon Lindelof. "@BretEastonEllis & if u were a 'very hot woman' you'd still be a shit writer," suggested actor Ellen Barkin in a now-deleted tweet.

After many negative comments coming in, the author apologized. "I still believe that if The Hurt Locker had been directed by a man it would not have won the Oscar for best director," he said.

Another post offered a clue as to why the writer's missives tend to become increasingly barbed each time he hits the return button: "Concerned Empire woman offended by Bigelow tweet writes 'I love you, babe. But stop tweeting wasted'," wrote Ellis. "When the hell else should I tweet?!?"
