'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Trailer, Premiere & Spoilers: Meet New Cast Members Here!

In "The Walking Dead" season 6, more comic book characters come alive. There are three new cast members coming to the fold, and they came straight from the Robert Kirkman's comic book where the series is based, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The first character is Merritt Wever, whose inclusion was announced in San Diego Comic Con but her character wasn't revealed. The Emmy Award-winning "Nurse Jackie" star will play the role of a surgeon named Dr. Denise Cloyd, as if getting a promotion.

As the aforementioned publication states, the comics told how she was of great help to a main character who obtained a gruesome injury, which could happen in "The Walking Dead" season 6. What's known about Wever's portrayal of Denise is that she will step up as a medic after Pete's death.

The second character to arrive is Carter, which will be played by Ethan Embry. Showrunner Scott Gimple told EW that unlike Denise, Carter will be "a combo of a few characters that we actually haven't hit yet or weren't able to hit in other characters."

"He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy," he teased. In "The Walking Dead" season 6, Carter will try to get the walled community turn on Rick and blame him for disrupting the place and filling it with violence.

The third character to welcome in the new season of the AMC blockbuster is Heath, the town's supply runner. As Comic Book Resources points out, Kirkman had Heath entangled in a romance with Denise. Corey Hawkins will play the character and Gimple says "he's really, really excited to be there."

"He's terrific and I'm so excited to see him bring Heath to life. It's been fun and he dove in with both feet," the showrunner told EW. "He's tough and skeptical when the cameras are rolling, and then when they're off he's just like a goofy fan," he shared.

In other related news, Cleveland.com reported that Norman Reedus aka fan-favorite Daryl Dixon revealed in an MTV Q&A that he wants to bring Steven Yeun's Glenn back from the dead. What's interesting is that the character was still alive the last time fans checked.

This hinted that the character is about to meet his demise and that part of the new characters' purpose is to fill that void. "The Walking Dead" season 6 will premiere with a massive 90-minute episode on Oct. 11.
