'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting Rumors: Robert Pattinson to Play Christian Grey? E.L. James Reveals He's Not Ruled Out

Many fans want to know who will play Christian Grey in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie.

A lot of possibilities have been thrown out there, but one star seems to be the talk of the town, even if it's not about playing Christian. He is no other than Robert Pattinson.

The "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," "Fifty Shades Freed"), written by bestselling author E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey, and both explore Christian's world of BDSM while trying to understand their complicated relationship.

James' revealed that her characters were based off of "The Twilight Saga" characters Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and Edward (played by Pattinson). It would be natural that Pattinson is up for the role of Christian, especially for Twi-hard fans.

Pattinson seemed to like and was intrigued by the idea of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

In July, Pattinson told MTV News host Josh Horowitz what he would do with the erotic novel.

"I'd just sit there and lick the pages," he joked.

On Pattinson and Stewart playing Christian and Anastasia, James wasn't particularly fond of that idea.

According to Red Carpet News TV, Fifty Shades author E.L. James confirmed that the two lovebirds will not be playing the crucial roles for the upcoming movie, even though the whole trilogy is Twilight fan fiction.

"I think it would be too strange! It would just be .. Uggh weird!" the British author said about the couple playing the starring roles.

Recently, however, James revealed to her fans that no one is ruled out to play Christian, including Pattinson.

Fifty Shades Movie Fansite reported:

@karrobertson @latersbaby5050 the sad part @E_L_James does not want Rob to play Christian and it's quite upsetting @FiftyShadesFilm

@lindas106 No @E_L_James didn't say that and has repeatedly said that was a misquote. @LatersBaby5050 @karrobertson

Furthermore, TheStir.CafeMom.com reported that ever since the Stewart cheating scandal, Pattinson seems like he "embraced a sexier, more grown-up vibe that he's putting out from every angle."

His character as Eric Packer in newly released movie "Cosmopolis" brings a sexy side of him too. He looked strikingly handsome in a sharp blue suit, black tie at the "Cosmopolis" premiere.

Gather Celebs described Pattinson as a "Twilight heart-throb" and that he was "dressed to lady-kill in black leather and blue denim" at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Fans really want Pattinson to be Christian Grey.

There is a Facebook account named "Robert Pattinson as Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey the Movie," advocating the Edward actor to play the sexy, ana-spanking Christian. There is also a petition on Facebook.

A new "Fifty Shades" trailer recently starred Pattinson and Stewart as Christian and Ana.

According to Gather Celebs, one fan made a video starring the two "Twilight" stars.

"The video is described on fan sites as 'based on the story Master of the Universe, by Snowqueens Icedragon, subsequently published as the bestselling trilogy 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James.'" Gather wrote.

The video is shot and black and white. There are scenes from the original "Twilight" films, where Pattinson and Stewart star as Edward and Bella. There are a series of close-ups, followed by the make out scene in the first "Twilight" film. The words "pleasure" and "pain" flash across the screen in red letters, and the letters "S E X" come across the video as well. Pattinson and Stewart are shot with various screen shots which show smiling, sneering, brooding, and sexiness.

One Books & Review commenter said, "Honestly i think Kristen Stewart. She can act, and the paleness." Another said, "Yes, Pattinson I can definitely see as Christian Grey.  He's the picture in my mind as I read the book."

Another fan said, "Kristen & Robert are AMAZING actors! But I don't think they would fit well into this movie, but at the same time; it could expand their movie titles & reputation more well - rounded. Either way it go, I would SOO WATCH IT ! # TeamKristen&Robert!" Another said, "Stick with these two here they both look perfect for their roles as Christian and Ana."
