'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting Madness: Henry Cavill Hinting at Christian Grey Role? Mechanical Talk, A Gag Order?

Henry Cavill is giving fans what they want: Some time of acknowledgement that he is a fan favorite for Christian Grey.

In a recent interview with Details.com, Cavill was asked about the rumors about him playing the 27-year-old sexy billionaire in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie.

"Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made," he said with the measured tones of someone who knows his way around a Hollywood gag order, Details.com wrote. "It would be a very different kind of thing than 'Man of Steel.'"

Cavill fans give proof that the 29-year-old actor should be picked to play Christian Grey because of a 2008 cologne commercial that features "Superman" as a sharply dressed Christian Grey-to be about to board a helicopter emblazoned with a letter "G," according to Policy Mic. They have also started a Pinterest page, "Henry Cavill (Christian Grey)," where they post pictures of Cavill resembling Grey's poses and demeanor.

Fans give the argument that since Cavill was the inspiration behind Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga," and Edward Cullen inspired Christian Grey's character, then Cavill should definitely get the part.

"Indisputably the most difficult character to cast, Edward is also the one that I'm most passionately decided upon. The only actor I've ever seen who I think could come close to pulling off Edward Cullen is Henry Cavill," said Stephanie Meyer, the author of the "Twilight" series, told MTV News in 2009. "Henry was Albert, the young son in 'The Count of Monte Cristo.' Can you see it? I know I can!"

Another Christian contender that is gaining stardom in the "Fifty Shades" fan world is "Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum.

According to the Examiner, Wet Paint chose Tatum as a lead contender for Christian. He's also the 2012 People's "Sexiest Man Alive" winner, and fans most likely agree.

Back in July, according to Daily Mail, Tatum said he would play with a condition attached.

When asked if he would play the protagonist in the adaptation in an interview with U.K. Glamour Magazine, he responded: "1) Yes. 2) I'd only be allowed if my wife was Ana. She's read the books so I don't think she'd be impressed if she couldn't be Ana!'"
