Nokia Lumia 920 Release Date, Specs: Why Many Would Buy Lumia 920 vs iPhone 5; Can it Compete?

It looks like Nokia has provided good competition for Apple's already-extremely-popular iPhone 5.

While many are clouded by iPhone 5 reports, such as a new record of pre-orders for any phone, or detailed specs that Apple lovers need, there are the reports that suggest the Lumia 920 is way better than the iPhone 5.

According to Tapscape, a parody ad suggests that the Lumia 920 is better than the iPhone 5.

"Now, Nokia Lumia 920 fans have joined the iPhone 5 bashing bandwagon and released their own version of the ad," Tapscape reported.

The unofficial ad says, "Flyweight contender, meet the heavyweight champion." It includes a list of specs that both smartphones have, with the Lumia 920 drastically outnumbering the iPhone 5 list of specs.

"While some may argue that "better" is subjective, there are some aspects where the Nokia Lumia 920 clearly trumps the iPhone 5. The Nokia Lumia 920 has a more significantly bigger screen with a crisper 1280 x 768 display resolution, has longer talk and standby times, a better camera and larger default internal storage. The Nokia Lumia 920 also boasts of NFC and wireless charging, two features which Apple says they deliberately skipped for the iPhone 5 due to their impracticality. And like the original Galaxy SIII ad, the Nokia Lumia 920 is shown to have a list of features that far outnumber those of the iPhone 5."

Samsung did a similar ad as well for it's Galaxy S3, stating, "Lumia 920: Wireless charging, amazing camera, screen you can use with gloves on and much more. No, it doesn't take a genius. #swithctolumia."

To further the evidence that many would actually buy the Lumia 920 over the iPhone 5, a Books & Review poll showed that, with 2,901 votes, users would buy the Lumia 920. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung's "phablet," got 253 votes. And the iPhone5 got 147 votes. Boo.

The Examiner did a "multimedia showdown" between the iPhone 5, Galaxy S3, and the Lumia 920.

"The winner: It's hard to call, but it looks like the winner may be the Lumia 920," the Examiner concluded. They got this answer because of the Lumia 920's 8.7MP camera, which is said to be the most capable camera yet on a smartphone. Also, the PureView sensor has not only has optical image stabilization, but the latest generation BSI sensor. It also has a Carl Zeiss lens. The camera on the Lumia 920 is said to be an easy digital camera replacement, reported the Examiner.

The Lumia 920 takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens.  It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera and runs on Windows Phone 8.
