'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Battle of Top 5 Hottest Trailers for Christian Grey Include Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling [POLL]

Who will play Christian Grey?

This is one of the biggest questions when it comes to film casting for "Fifty Shades of Grey."

With producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti brainstorming with author E.L. James, crazed fans want to know more and more information, even suggesting their favorite stars for the key role of complicated, sexy billionaire Christian.

The "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," "Fifty Shades Freed"), written by E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaireChristian Grey, and both explore Christian's world of BDSM while trying to understand their complicated relationship.

Five huge fan favorites for the role of Christian are "Drive" star Ryan Gosling, "Superman" star Henry Cavill, "Twilight" Robert Pattinson, "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, and "White Collar" star Matt Bomer.

Books & Review put together a list of some of the hottest trailers so the five can battle it out for who has the best trailer and better looking to play Christian Grey. Don't forget to vote at the bottom!

Ryan Gosling, 31

This "Drive" star was also one of the first fan favorites for Christian Grey.

One fan-made trailer that went viral was Gosling starring as Christian Grey and Emma Stone as Ana Steele.

The trailer has minimal sexy scenes but is very elegant and shows how Christian feels when he first meets Ana, and his life before he meets her. A very successful businessman with a craving for handcuffs and love at the same time is what Gosling portrays in the video. The music is by Ave Maria and features black-and-white scenes from some of Gosling's movies.

According to NOW magazine, James' husband Niall Leonard said that "last he heard," Gosling, 31, was in the frame to play the role of Christian.

It could be that Leonard just heard Gosling as a huge fan favorite and thought he was in the running for the film, but he would know more of the inside story than any of us.

However, bestselling author E.L. James recently denied these rumors on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

James said those reports were "completely misreported."

"What happened is that his local paper, he's from Northern Ireland, there's a newspaper there called the Belfast Telegraph that reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey. Underneath it they put a picture of Ryan Gosling, as well. So, that's how that came about," James said.

Earlier in September, Extra caught up with Gosling at the Toronto Film Festival to talk about his new film. "The Place Beyond the Pines." He was asked about the possibility of playing Christian, according to WetPaint.

He didn't say much. "I don't... what is this book that everyone is talking about? It seems very popular." He scuttled away very quickly at that point.

WetPaint dubbed Gosling as being "cheeky."

Some believe that Gosling is still in the running for Christian even though James denied the rumors.

One commenter said, "Her denial wasn't very convincing. I, for one, am not convinced, and if some headlines are anything to go by the Media weren't wholly convinced either. They're still championing RG. He may not be her No.1 but he's one of the 3."

Gosling has many fans. One fan said about the trailer, "Stunning!!! Perfect trailer, so well done, so elegant. I love it!!!" Another said, "He is the perfect Christian Grey!" Another said, "I think Ryan is PERFECT for the role of Christian Grey! He's a great actor with many talents."

Henry Cavill, 29

Cavill has always been a fan favorite, and recently hit the spotlight again for Christian when fans started to give proof that he is perfect for the role.

A new trailer stars him as sexy Christian Grey and "Gilmore Girls" Alexis Bledel as Anastasia (her face only shows once though).

The trailer is one minute and nine seconds and is already raunchy. It features some parts from Cavill's 2008 cologne campaign.

It also has some sexy, racy, BDSM filled sex scenes. It shows Cavill's potential to play Christian Grey will his sex appeal and piercing looks.

Many fans on YouTube gave the video praise. One said it was "addicting" and that "there two are so absolutely perfect for the parts." Many agreed that Cavill is their perfect Christian Grey.

Cavill fans give proof that actor should be picked to play Christian Grey because of a 2008 cologne commercial that features "Superman" as a sharply dressed Christian Grey-to be about to board a helicopter emblazoned with a letter "G," according to Policy Mic. They have also started a Pinterest page, "Henry Cavill (Christian Grey)," where they post pictures of Cavill resembling Grey's poses and demeanor.

The "Immortals" actor also expressed interest in playing Edward Cullen during the casting time (which Robert Pattsinson plays him now). Will he express interest in Christian Grey as well?

Robert Pattinson, 26

This hot vampire actor starred in a "Fifty Shades" trailer with no other than "Twilight" co-star and real life love interest Kristen Stewart.

According to Gather Celebs, one fan made a video that could be a "Fifty Shades" trailer starring the two "Twilight" stars.

"The video is described on fan sites as 'based on the story Master of the Universe, by Snowqueens Icedragon, subsequently published as the bestselling trilogy 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James.'" Gather wrote.

The video is shot and black and white. There are scenes from the original "Twilight" films, where Pattinson and Stewart star as Edward and Bella. There are a series of close-ups, followed by the make out scene in the first "Twilight" film. The words "pleasure" and "pain" flash across the screen in red letters, and the letters "S E X" come across the video as well. Pattinson and Stewart are shot with various screen shots which show smiling, sneering, brooding, and sexiness.

"Fifty Shades" first started as "Twilight" fan-fiction. Both Ana and Christian are based off Bella and Edward. The erotic novel then took a journey of its own.

Pattinson is currently in second place in a Christian Grey poll, right behind "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard.

He also has an edge against all three other contenders because he was recently named the world's sexist man for the fourth year on Glamour's list of 50 sexiest men.

One Books & Review commenter said, "I think Robert P. would be an excellent choice to play the role of Christian. Something about his mysterious personality in Twilight reminds me of Christian. Controlling, sweet, sensual, and not to mention his looks; square jaw, blue eyes, hair, body. I think he could really get into character and bring Christian to life on screen."

Ian Somerhalder, 33

Another hot vampire has made it on the list of hottest trailers.

Somerhalder is featured in two trailers, one with fan favorite Lucy Hale and one with Lyndsy Fonseca.

In the one with Fonseca's, her face only appears one time but there are plenty of sexy scenes to keep ones watching with interest. Handcuffs, spanking, steamy kissing and body motions can make one feel that the sex scenes in "Fifty Shades of Grey" are coming to life.

In the other trailer that features Hale, the video is only 30 seconds. The song features "I Want You (She's So Heavy) by The Beatles, and goes great with the trailer. Hale almost looks to sexy to play virginal Anastasia. However, Somerhalder pulls off the look of Christian with his grey eyes piercing through the screen. There's not a lot of sexy pictures or handcuffing and spanking, but near the end Somerhalder asks, "Do you trust me?" in a Christian Grey-like voice.

The Damon actor recently spoke to E! News at the 2012 Environmental Media Awards about the sexual character and audition process, according to the Examiner.

"I think that's going to be a very interesting story to tell...It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time...the audition process is gonna be interesting," Somerhalder said.

When he is asked who his ideal Anastasia would be, Somerhalder does not give a solid answer. "My Anastasia? I don't know...there are too many [good Hollywood actors] to name."

Fans are dying for him to be the one. One commenter said, "Definitely Somerhalder! The way he plays Damon on the Vampire Diaries just makes him perfect for the part. He can do hot and cold easily, those grey eyes, that mischievous smile! He is very good at being cold and dominant whilst also being sensitive and caring at times." Another said, "Only Ian Somerhalder can pull off that look of Christian Grey!"

Matt Bomer, 34

This actor has been the center of the Christian Grey universe forever.

Many fan-made trailers have been made starring Bomer, and there is one that sticks out over the rest of them.

This trailer features Bomer with Alexis Bledel as Ana Steele. It also features Blake Lively and Matt Damon as Kate Kavanagh and Christian's bodyguard, Taylor.

In this video, there's more of how Christian and Ana met and the scene from Ana's graduation. Not a lot of sexy scenes in this video, but Bomer and Bledel are huge fan favorites for the two key roles so the trailer doesn't need sex to convince "Fifty Shades" fans.

Bomer has always been in the Christian Grey race. He stars as Neal Caffrey in "White Collar" and fans are drooling over him.

A debate sparked that he should not be cast as Christian because he is openly gay.

Bret Easton Ellis, who discarded Bomer to play the much coveted role.

Ellis criticized Bomer as a possibility for Christian because Bomer is gay, saying that it "complicates the role" and "it's about an intensely straight actor wanting absolutely to screw Ana Steele."

One commenter said, "Yes Henry Cavil is a good choice but have you seen Matt Bomer. He is my Christian Grey." Another said, "Before I knew they were making a movie, it was too easy to automatically picture Matt Bomer as Christian... He has a very natural seductive look, incredible body, and would probably exceed the expectations of everyone on how Christian Grey is portrayed."

@WhiteCollarUSA tweeted during the controversy, "We think he'd be great. RT @buzzfocus: Would Matt Bomer playing Christian Grey in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' be ludicrous?"

One Bomer fan said, "Prepare yourselves for a rant on why Bret Easton Ellis is an idiot for his remarks about Matt Bomer being cast as Christian Grey."

Actress Odette Annable tweeted, "I have 100% zero issues if they decide to cast Matt Bomer as Christian Grey. I think it's a good choice. That's all. #fiftyshades."

MattBomerFan.com, which has over 12,500 followers on Twitter, also throws their support behind Bomer for Christian Grey.

One fan said on its Twitter page, "@MattBomerforCG This is exactly how I visualised Mr Grey. There's no doubt about it, he's the one who's gotta play Mr Grey in the movie!"

Another fan Twitter page, Matt Bomer 4 Grey, also supports Bomer as Christian.

One Bomer fan called her page "Mrs. Bomer," and her description says she is "obsessed withRob Pattinson and Matt Bomer."

Bomer won in second place in a recently Christian Grey poll. He had 2,291 votes against Somerhalder's 2,573 votes.
