HTC Windows Phone 8X Release Date, T-Mobile: How Limited Storage Could Hurt Chances to Compete vs Lumia 920 Specs, Samsung ATIV S

Many are excited for Windows Phone 8.

One of the highly anticipated new phones is the HTC Windows Phone 8X.

The HTC Phone 8X features a Qualcomm S4 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor with 16GB storage and 1GB RAM. It has a 4.3-inch super LCD 2 touch screen with HD 720p resolution Gorilla Glass 2. It has a 8-megapixel camera with a dedicated HTC ImageChip and a 1800 mAh battery. It also comes with Beats Audio built-in. It comes in various colorful designs.

According to Gottabemobile, a recent leak suggests that the 8X might have limited storage than most of its rivals. The leaks says that it would come in 8GB or 16GB with AT&T Mobility in the U.S.

"The problem here is that unlike models with more expansive on-board storage, the HTC 8X is a completely sealed design meaning users will not have access to a micro SD card slot to further augment the capacity of their HTC 8X should their storage needs change in the future."

Nokia's flagship smartphone Lumia 920 poses a huge threat to the Phone 8X. Although both phones are similar, the Lumia will come with 32GB of storage, which is the twice the capacity of HTC's largest model.

Samsung's Windows 8 phone, the ATIV S, comes with 16GB of storage, but it will come with a micro SD slot so users can add more memory at a later date.

In a comparison test between the ATIV S, Lumia 920 and HTC Phone 8X, the ATIV topped HTC because of storage, coupled with its Super AMOLED technology and 4.8-inch display.

In a survey that was taken by ChangeWave Research, nine percent of consumers are likely to buy a Windows Phone 8 dewvice, according to Nasdaq.

Among those nine percent, 36 percent said that they are more interested in the way the platform integrates with Windows apps and other Windows devices. ChangeWave also found that nearly half (45 percent) of those consumers do not know which Windows Phone 8 manufacturer they will choose. But the majority of those who have decided (51 percent) said they will buy a Samsung device.

Samsung came in first place, while Nokia came in second, followed by HTC.

Samsung seems to cause a problem all around for the Phone 8X because of its flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone.

The S3 comes in either 16, 32, or 64GB of on-board storage and micro SDXC card slot which allows users to add up to 64GB memory card, according to Gottabemobile, which makes the 8X look puny.

Writer Chuong Nguyen ended with this: "I have a 64 GB iPhone 5 and it's almost filled to the brim. I have a huge photo library and thanks to being a godfather, I also have many videos of my godson that I like to keep with me at all times. In addition to important work documents, a collection of e-books, some movies and games, I've used up nearly all my 64 GB on the iPhone. For me, 16 GB won't be enough, but it definitely depends on the needs of individual users. For a Windows Phone 8 flagship, Microsoft really should have worked with HTC to start the 8X off with 16 GB and go up to 32 GB."

All hope is not lost for HTC.

CNET compared the Lumia 920 vs HTC 8X. The Lumia 920 and the HTC Phone 8X are similar in ways, such as the colors, NFC, processor, and RAM. However, the HTC phone is smaller, lighter, and thinner than the Lumia 920. The Lumia 920 has a larger display. HTC's 8-megapixel camera includes the image chip; shutter lag is virtually nonexistent and photo quality is very high. And when it comes to the front-facing cameras, HTC's 2.1-megapixel front-facer has the upper hand over Nokia's 1-megapixel contribution.

Also, HTC's new One X+ is dominating spec comparisons with the Galaxy S3. And, for those who want a smaller option, HTC has the Phone 8S. It has a Qualcomm S4 1 Ghz Dual-Core, with 4GB and a SD card slot with supports microSD memory card for extra storage and 512 MB. It has a 4-inch super LCD touch screen with WVGA resolution Gorilla Glass. It also features a 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash and 1,700 mAh battery. It has Beats Audio built-in.

Either way, many are excited for Microsoft's new Windows 8 software.

"Windows 8 is going to be a magical OS that will transform the computing in the days to come. Though many people have tried to spoil the excitement by reasoning against its importance, but people by and large are excited as it will incorporate smartphone, tablet and laptos, PC into one OS," Nvonews said. "Windows Phone 8 is also attracting huge attention in the market with several great smartphone set to be launched by many top smart-phone manufacturers including Samsung, Nokia, LG and ASUS already revealing several handsets on Windows Phone 8."

New reports say that the T-Mobile version of the Phone 8X will release on Nov. 14.

Microsoft is holding an event in California on Oct. 29 to announce the final version of WP8.

According to PCWorld, "Carriers on that day are also expected to announce pricing, availability, and pre-order details for the first round of Windows Phone 8 devices."
