New 'True Blood' Hardcover Comic Book Debuts in December; New Season 6 Cast Details

Even though "True Blood" will return to crazed fans in six months, a new hardcover comic series will quench their thirst until the time comes.

According to the Examiner, IDW Publishing, in conjunction with HBO, announced that the first collection of the "True Blood" ongoing comic book series will debut in hardcover this December, according to a recent press release.

The collection, "True Blood: Where Were You?" was written by Ann Nocenti and "True Blood" actor Michael McMillian. Series creator Alan Ball also collaborated with the comic series.

The 32-page comic book is described:

Alan Ball's hit HBO series, the sensually sizzling story of the lives and loves of vampires, mind readers, and all manner of creatures, returns as an ongoing series! Do you remember where you were the day vampires came out of the coffin? On the anniversary of the "Great Revelation," Sookie and the crew look back and reflect on the day that changed their lives forever.

"I'm so excited to help launch the True Blood ongoing series," McMillian said in the news release. "The TV series created such a rich mythology, the possibilities for exciting stories starring Sookie Stackhouse and the citizens of Bon Temps are endless. This first volume flashes back to where Sookie, Eric, Bill and Alcide were when vampires came out of the coffin while they fight a bold new vampire villain in the present!"

The Examiner reported: "In 'True Blood: Where Were You?' readers will learn the beloved cast of characters' roles in and reaction to the "Great Revelation," the day when vampires revealed themselves to the world. Sookie and the entire crew look back and reflect on the day that changed their lives forever."

"Our various TRUE BLOOD miniseries proved so popular, an ongoing series was a no-brainer. And we were lucky to have assembled such a talented team to produce it," editor Denton J. Tipton said. "This book represents months of their hard work as well as that of the tremendous folks at HBO and Your Face Goes Here Entertainment. I think you'll be able to see that effort in these pages."

"True Blood" fans can now pre-order "True Blood: Where Were You?" Comic Hardcover. Shipping will start on Dec. 19.  It sells for $24.99 on HBO.com.

In recent "True Blood" news, Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene in the TV series, recently dished on Arlene's future.

In an interview with WetPaint, when asked what's next for her since last season, Preston said, "Yeah, she has kids, she's got the whole fourth husband thing. I would really love to see her interact with the vampires. I don't want a show about the bar - I'd like to be on a show about vampires! So I would really like to see just a little more interaction with that. I mean, I've never even done a scene with Alexander Skarsgard or Kristin Bauer! They're huge, these two huge vampires. I had scenes with Stephen [Moyer], who plays Bill, but that was in Season 1!"

When asked if Preston wanted to see Arlene turned like Tara was this season, Preston said, "No, I think it's important for Arlene and Terry to remain in the human world, otherwise the supes have no contextualization. If they aren't in context with the real world, then where are they? They could be on Mars!"

"True Blood" season 6 premieres on HBO in 2013.
