'The Book of Yeezus' - 5 Facts & Details About Kanye West's Book

Kanye West -- a prophet? Well, not exactly. Though he had said back in 2009 that he is "God's vessel", just how far will Kanye take his ego? Maybe "The Book of Yeezus" has the answers.

Here are five facts and details on what Kanye fans can expect to see from the book.

1. The book replaces all mentions of God with Kanye West.

"In the beginning, Kanye created the heaven and the earth."

Thus, "The Book of Yeezus" begins. Readers can expect that God has been replaced by Kanye, at least in this book.

According to the creators of the book, they chose Kanye West to represent God in the reworking of the book of Genesis because of the media attention that the rapper gets. The creators further added that in today's society, the rapper will "accompany that generation through it's evolution, being a part of and ultimately shaping its identity," Billboard.com reports.

"In a sense, Kanye's awesome and orchestrated spectacle is truly a religious experience," the creators said (via Mashable).

2. The book does not poke fun or praise Kanye West.

According to the creators, the book does not "represent an undying devotion" to the rapper, but focuses more on the kind of society that people are living, Standard Media reports.

The creators further said that the book is merely "a fresh take on what The Bible would look in our modern world." So fans of the multi-media hyphenate star need not worry.

3. The book is only available on Etsy (and you have to be patient if you want to buy it).

"The Book of Yeezus" has been gaining media attention recently. Inquistr reports that the book's creators, a pair of brothers, have been operating their Etsy shop since January, and has indicated that they already sold out all the copies, saying, "We've gotten a hellava lotta orders."

The creators therefore ask for patience from customers who wish to own the book, relating it to Moses' 40-year journey across the desert.

4. The book is not intended to be taken seriously.

"The Book of Yeezus" is not intended for the devout Christians, that's for sure.

The book is definitely sacrilegious, if taken seriously. But one shouldn't take on any religious affinity when reading "The Book of Yeezus".

Though the black-and-gold theme of the book's cover intentionally gives the book an air of mystery and power, it is nothing but mere appearance. After all, the book's description, "an interventionist art, coffee table novelty," is not exactly as profound as the Bible.

However, the creators' intention of making the book is not exactly humorous, either. "What if the Bible, the most singularly significant publication in the ancient canon of Western tradition, were updated to reflect our modern society? What would it look like?" they said.

Which leads us to the next item on the list.

5. The book is a social commentary.

The book focuses on the celebrity-worshipping society that we live in, where religion is overshadowed by the latest gossip and media trends. It looks at spirituality in the digitized age and the cultural phenomenons of pop stars such as Kanye West.

Included in the book is a "300-word social commentary on the religion and spectacle of the 21st century," according to the book's official website.

So before making assumptions about the book, what readers can do is to examine the purpose of creating the book, and what we will get out of it. More than anything else, "The Book of Yeezus" gives its readers entertainment, but in the end, something to think about, as well.
