Kim Kardashian's 'Selfish' Book Now a Bestseller; Over 1K Copies Sold

Kim Kardashian has proven that her face alone can sold thousands of copies all over the globe. Her book, "Selfish", released earlier this month debuted at the 32nd spot in USA Today's Best-selling Books List. The book is a spot behind her last best-selling book, "Kardashian Konfidential," which she co-wrote with her sisters, Khloe and Kourtney, that landed on number 31 when it debuted in 2010.

"Selfish," the coffee table book that contains a collection of 445 pages of selfies by one of the most sought-after celebrities in Hollywood, has sold almost 14,000 copies in the US, according to Publisher's Weekly. Based on the data from Nielsen BookScan, the book landed at the 13th spot in the top 15 non-fiction bestsellers on the week of the book's release last May 5.

In the UK, "Selfish" has sold almost 2,000 copies, reports The Guardian. On its week of release, the "Selfish" has outsold the books of more established writers, such as James Patterson, Mark Billingham, David Baldacci and Jo Nesbo, which were also released on the same week.

The book contains selfies of Kardashian over the years, some of which are never been published, while most are shared through the star's Instagram account. The collection of selfies has been handpicked by Kardashian herself and is considered to be her way to pay tribute to her fans who have been with her very public life.

Fans of Kardashian have shown support over the book by posing with their own copy of "Selfish" in their own selfies. This came after actress Lena Dunham showed her own selfie with the said book through her Instagram account with the hashtag "#yeahiboughtit." Hence, it appears that the activists who protested during Kardashian's book-signing in a Barnes and Noble store New York did not succeed in foiling the sales of her book.

While some people may not have liked the idea of Kardashian's book, there is no doubt about the its star appeal based on the number of copies it has sold so far. In a statement via The Guardian by Tom Tivnan, a features editor for The Bookseller, the book is a "landmark publishing, a cultural touchstone, the Catcher in the Rye of the Instagram generation."

Reviews of the book seem to be mixed. Time Magazine said that while the book is titled "Selfish," it is anything but selfish as Kardashian proudly shows off her glam and sexy selfies, while The Atlantic sees the book as daring and provoking. Meanwhile, The Guardian thinks that the book may be a "nail in the coffin for artistic photography."

Whatever it is that the public thinks of "Selfish," it looks like Kim K's star will continue to shine.
