'The Hunger Games: The Exhibition’ Set to Make San Francisco Stop: 'Mockingjay 2' & More Franchise Updates Here

After six months in Times Square, New York, "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition" is off to a new destination in San Francisco. The exhibition, which features all things Panem, will be put on show in its full Katniss-level cool glory in February next year, The Hollywood Reporter wrote.

It is the studio's attempt to revel the girl on fire's fight for fairness as well as expand the widely popular young adult franchise's branding altogether. The exhibition's will be at the Palace of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall in San Francisco to gawk starting early next year.

"It's a future vision of our own world," one of the exhibit's creative director, Kate McConnell, explained as quoted by New York Daily News. "Walking through Panem is a chance for visitors to reflect on our own society," she went on to say.

Fans of Suzanne Collins' science-fiction epic, as well as lovers of its stellar film adaptations, who happen to live in New York, will be able to set foot in the 12,000-square-foot exhibition starting tomorrow, July 1, until January 3 next year. Those interested to see it for themselves can reserve a ticket at showclix.

"The Hunger Games: The Exhibition" makes the Mockingjay's courage more tangible than ever as underscored in the movies. Awaiting the visitors of the display, Variety reports, are seven galleries respectively retelling and replicating the likeness of District 12, Tribute Train, the Capitol, Making the Games, District 13, Fan Gallery and Katniss' Journey.

Featured in its halls are costumes and props used by the crossbow-wielding heroine herself, Jennifer Lawrence, and the rest of the cast as well as photography and interactive experiences. The artistry behind the making of the films will also be presented in the exhibit.

The Hollywood Reporter also shares that Lionsgate collaborated with Imagine Exhibitions and Thinkwell group designed the whole thing. The studio recreated the set as seen in the Lionsgate films and all of Panem in the "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition." Lastly, there's a retail store where guests can buy a memento of the one-of-a-kind experience.

According to Variety, the studio also plans to organize a live theatrical experience inspired by the franchise in the form of "The Hunger Games Stage Around," set to take the podium in a 1,200-seat theater next to Wembley Stadium in England. The Hollywood Reporter adds that theme park attractions will also be made, allowing to the success of the franchise.

"Sales for 'The Hunger Games: The Exhibition' have been robust with advance purchases outpacing any other film-based exhibition in the history of our venue," president of Discovery Times Square, James Sanna, told Variety.
