'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Premiere Date: Book 6 'The Winds of Winter' Already Finished?

George R.R. Martin's fans long for only one thing and one thing only: to see "Winds of Winter" in the flesh. However, it's a rare occasion to see the title's book and the word "finish" in the same sentence. A release date hasn't been set up yet as the 67-year-old novelist is still tied up to his desk.

However, in a recent Reddit AMA conducted by "Game of Thrones" director, Jack Bender, it looks like "Winds of Winter" is ready for publication. When asked if he was able to read the book as part of his preparation, Bender was on the affirmative with a solid "Yes" as a response.

Independent reports that the rumor mills went full-throttle in a matter of seconds with fans believing that "Winds of Winter" is finally complete. However, the glee turned into a frenzy with Watchers of the Wall confirming that Bender hasn't seen a copy of the sixth "A Series of Ice and Fire" book.

According to a "very reliable" source that spoke to the site, it looks like the director has just confused it with a "Game of Thrones" season 6 outline and nothing more. This means that the series has no solid material for the upcoming season of the HBO hit yet.

As per Independent, "Game of Thrones" is likely to overtake the books with Martin resorting to giving the screenwriters an overview of the story, which they can use as a foundation for creating the script for the show's sixth season.

The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" was based on the fourth and fifth volumes in Martin's series, as Books & Review previously reported. It remains to be seen if the novelist will finish "Winds of Winter" in time for the production.

Master Herald points out that the series usually premieres by April, and to accommodate the filming, "Winds of Winter" should have hit the shelves at least months before that, which puts the projected release date to end of 2015.

Fans of the TV series sit tight, most, if not all, biting their nails as they wait for the series to reveal officially the fate of cult-favorite Jon Snow, who, unfortunately, looked very dead in the finale of the fifth season.

Reiterating and supporting the belief of many, Pop Sugar is confident that Jon will survive the lethal stabbing, especially now that the mystery of his parentage is close to being unearthed.

Yahoo TV echoed MTV writer Josh Wigler's theory about Jon possibly hailing from House Targaryen with purple royalty deep-rooted in him, which will allow Melisandre to resurrect him. But for Kit Harrington, Jon Snow is dead, confirming to Entertainment Weekly that he won't be coming back.
