Microsoft Lumia 940 & 940 XL Release Date: The Latest Price, Specs & Features Details Here [Rumors]

The rumor mill is abuzz as two flagship phones, Microsoft Lumia 940 and 940 XL, are reportedly coming this year along with the much-awaited Windows 10, International Business Times reports.

In a report from Tech Times, Microsoft Lumia 940 is said to be the previously rumored flagship Lumia phone that will run in Windows 10.

The 5.2-inch 940 comes with a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display. It is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. It also features a 20-megapixel rear camera ad 5-megapixel front camera.

Meanwhile, another flagship phone is rumored to be coming, the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL.

International Business Times reveals that the 940 XL also comes with a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display but, unlike the 940, it is 5.7 inches in size. It reportedly comes with a 17-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and self-recording.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. While no microSD expansion slot is clearly confirmed for 940, the 940 XL comes with it.

The smartphones are expected as early as September, the same time, according to PCWorld, that the Windows 10 Mobile will be officially shipped to the market.

A leaked slide showing a schedule of Microsoft updates, posted by Neowin, reveals that the Windows 10 Mobile may be available "late next quarter".

However, the tipped schedule is not intended for regular buyers. The schedule does not indicate if "available" means the product is ready for release or if it is only an available concept.

"Windows 10 is coming July 29," USA Today reports. The much-awaited operating system may change the PC industry, which has been down since mobile became more popular. However, Windows is still used by 1.5 billion people in 190 countries worlwide.

"I think Windows 10 represents us listening and understanding what real people need better than we have before," Joe Belifore, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, tells USA Today.

Terry Myerson writes on a blog post: "We designed Windows 10 to run our broadest device family ever including Windows PCs, Windows tablets, Windows phones, Windows for the Internet of Things, Microsoft Surface Hub, Xbox One and Microsoft HoloLens-all working together to empower you to do great things."

Also, The Verge also reveals that Windows 10 may finally be able to run apps from Play and App stores, which set Microsoft mobiles behing Android and iOS devices.

"At times we've thought, let's just do iOS," Myerson tells The Verge. "But when we think of Windows we really think of everyone on the planet. There's countries where iOS devices aren't available."

Some rumors are surfacing that Windows 10 is ready to be finalized as early as this week.

According to another report from The Verge, a release to manufacturing (RTM) version is aready coming. This means that the product is soon coming to PC partners.
