'The Flash' Season 2 Episode 1 Release Date & Spoilers: New Cast Member, Set Photos & More Updates Here!

A Snart family reunion is in order. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Total Recall" actor Michael Ironside was tapped to play the role of Captain Cold and the Golden Glider's not-so-lovable and equally felonious daddy, Lewis in "The Flash" season 2.

As per the site, Daddy Snart is "a cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal." He notably doesn't have the best plans when it comes to his kids as the description continues, "Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children."

The site notes that in the comics, the only known fact about the head of the Snart family is that he has been very abusive to Leonard (Captain Cold in the future) that the young boy often stayed with his grandfather rather than in their own home. This spells trouble for the rogues in "The Flash" season 2.

Carter Matt notes that Lewis Snart's arrival will explain how Leonard and Lisa (the Golden Glider in the making) got into the same monkey business as their daddy and how easy it was for them to become comfortable and actually very good at it.

According to Zap2it, Ironside will debut as the evil Lewis Snart in episode three of "The Flash" season 2 very aptly titled "Family of Rogues." This means that early in the season, Wentworth Miller and Peyton List, who play Captain Cold and Golden Glider, will appear already.

Ironside is known for his roles in "Starship Troopers" and "Top Gun," reports Comicbook. In the world of comic books, he isn't new as he also lent his voice to Darkseid. According to The Holywood Reporter also adds that he has lent his voice to all sorts of characters in animated series like "Batman," "Superman," "Justice League," "Wolverine" and "The X-Men." The actor also played as Lois Lane's father in three episodes of "Smallville."

Ironside joins "Masters of Sex" actor Teddy Sears and "The Messengers" star Shantel VanSanten, who will play the original speedster Jay Garrick and new love interest Patty Spivot respectively in "The Flash" season 2, as previously reported by Books N Review.

It remains to be seen who will portray Wally West and the season's big bad Zoom, who were also confirmed to show up at some point in the new season.

On other hand, Comic Book Resources shared photos from the set, showing that an episode in "The Flash" season 2 will have Central City celebrate Flash Day and Barry fighting a masked villain.

"The Flash" season 2 airs October 6.
