'Game of Thrones' Movie Rumors: George RR Martin Shoots Down Talks

Fans of "Game of Thrones" still have at least half a year of waiting before the sixth season. With not much killing going on, even the slightest rumor can get the whole fandom shaking in excitement.

British tabloid The Daily Star exclusively reported September 27 that HBO is making a "Game of Thrones" movie after the TV series ends.

In addition, the article consists of direct words from the "Game of Thrones" book series author George R.R. Martin himself and a production insider.

Martin was quoted saying: "There will be a movie but I will not be involved... I have too much to do. That is something HBO and the DB [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are dealing with."

A production insider suggested to Daily Star that there are no constraints on when the story is to take place as there is a lot of rich material in the "Game of Thrones" universe. The insider was quoted as saying that big characters who are supposed to be dead could be resurrected.

As "Game of Thrones" is known as the show of countless deaths, the fact that there are a lot of big characters that fans would want to see resurrected only spiced up the rumor.

The article also mentioned that "Game of Thrones" writer David Benioff has ruled out any plans of extending the hit series to ten seasons.

On September 30, the Huffington Post reported that author George R.R. Martin and HBO representatives have denied the rumors through email.

Martin's comment on his LiveJournal page further confirms that the rumors are far from the truth.

A user asked if the rumored interview of the author regarding the "Game of Thrones" movie about Robert's Rebellion is false.

Robert's Rebellion is a historic event in Westeros. Eddard Stark, Jon Arryn, and Robert Baratheon led the rebellion against the House of Targaryen.

The author replied: "Yes, completely false. No one is working on any movie just now. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert's Rebellion. And this comment is also off topic."

The last sentence in his reply relates to his previous comment. Minutes before he addressed the rumor, he commented: "Please, folks, stay on topic when commenting on these posts."

While the "Game of Thrones" creator has denied the movie rumors, he has not completely ruled out the possibility.

"There's been talk about it," he told Huffington Post. "I'd love to see one, but nothing is decided."

The hit HBO series has been adapted from Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" books. The sixth season of the TV series is currently filming.
