Drew Barrymore Book: Actress Opens Up About Her Mother, Adam Sandler, Her Dog's Death And More in New Memoir 'Wildflower'

Drew Barrymore had a lot of things to talk about in her new memoir "Wildflower," which just hit the shelves. The book is her second memoir and while the first one titled "Little Girl Lost" is laden with stories in her seminal years often involving alcohol and drugs, the new tome delves more of what comes after that.

In the book, the mother-of-three touched on experiences and the moments she met significant people in her life. For starters, Drew, who almost always plays Adam Sandler's love interest in romantic comedy movies such as "50 First Dates" and "The Wedding Singer," talked about meeting the actor for the first time.

The star said that while she "knew it in my bones" that they will be successful collaborators someday and she herself had to "beg, borrow, and steal" to make Adam realize that. When she finally meets him, she prepared for it by picking out the best outfit. Adam, being Adam, showed up, needless to say, in sportswear.

"It was definitely not obvious we were supposed to fit as well as I believed because we looked like a preppy and a punk set up on a bad blind date," Drew wrote in the book as picked up by Vulture. Nonetheless, the actress felt Adam "had a goodness that was so unique" and so the unlikely pair went on to make a flurry of films together.

In "Wildflower," Drew also opened up about how she dealt with the death of her beloved dog Flossy, who she said was her "first girl." After a period of mourning, the star decided to fly to India, where she bid Flossy goodbye by dispersing the pooch's ashes in unique places like Gandhi's house, in the Himalayas by a Buddhist monastery and by the Ganges River.

Lastly, she shared a lot of stories about her darling mother Jadi in her memoir. While the truth about her imperfect relationship with her parents isn't a secret, what the public did not know is that after being emancipated from her, the "Charlie's Angels" star did not falter supporting Jadi financially. "I must know that she is taken care of or I simply cannot function," the actress wrote.

In honor of the release of "Wildflower," Drew posted an old photo of her and her mom on her Instagram. In the caption of the snap, she thanked her mother for bringing her to this world, saying "We have had quite a road, but it is paved with gratitude."
