Nexus 7 Shipping Update: Shipping and Pickup Available for Pre-orders; Stores Running Out of Tablets

Google's Nexus 7 tablet has hit the market with new features that rival other tablets, such Amazon's Kindle Fire and Apple's iPad. An official release date of the tablet has not been confirmed, but Google confirmed that they will start shipping the device to those who pre-ordered already.

According to previous reports, customers were able to preorder the Nexus 7 with Google, and other retailers, such as GameStop, Staples, and Sam's Club.

Reports confirmed that shipping has started to those who pre-ordered the device.

On the Google Play page, Google announced on July 13, "Locked and loaded, ready to play: we've started shipping +Nexus 7 pre-orders today! Google.com/nexus/#/7."

According to Android Community, in the U.S., GameStop and Staples are both not able to "sell" the $199 tablet, but are allowing those who pre-ordered to come to the store and pick up the tablet. Ebuyer in the U.K. shipped multiple tablets out last week, and they are arriving this week to anxious customers.

Confirmed by GottaBeMobile, Gamestop reached out to let GottaBeMobile know that users that pre-ordered the Google Nexus 7 can head in to their Gamestop location to pick it up. Those are ordered from Google are still waiting to get it.

The Nexus 7 has a 7-inch screen. According to Jobs & Hire, the device has powerful hardware and a useful design that will enhance the customer experience. It's a very convenient size considering its dimensions, and it provides the same features as bigger tablets bringing the web, email, games, and social media feeds to users' fingertips. The device also brings to life a 1280x 800 IPS touchscreen, comparable to the third generation iPad. It will come with Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth, a camera, and GPS, and be thinner and lighter.

The highly-anticipated tablet is also equipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google's brand new OS build that enhances features like notifications, Voice Search, and gives upgrades including a fresh look, a more intuitive UI, camera enhancements, and smoother handling, according to CNET.

With Google giving retailers the "go-ahead" to start shipping to those who pre-ordered, not everyone will get their Nexus 7 in a timely fashion.

Multiple retailers who started selling said the tablet has sold out and that they are struggling to fill orders.

According to CNET, GameStop, which is selling the 16GB edition, is showing the tablet as backordered. Further details reveal that the gaming outlet has ordered more stock from the vendor, and blogging site ITProPortal says another shipment of tablets is expected to reach GameStop in August.

Staples, Office Depot, and Sam's Club all show the Nexus 7 as currently out of stock with no further information as to its availability. Google's own site is promising that the tablet will "ship soon," meaning a 1-2 week delay.

According to Computer World, Adorama posted a message on Twitter last Friday afternoon saying that the Nexus 7 had sold out and that it was shipping all the stock based on orders received.
