'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: 'The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder in Talks For Role of Christian Grey? Producers Deny Rumors (VIDEO)

The producers or author of "Fifty Shades of Grey" haven't confirmed a screenwriter or a director for the upcoming movie, but rumors are spreading that an actor is auditioning for Christian Grey.

According to several reports, "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder is traveling to Los Angeles to meet with "Fifty Shades" people next week.

He revealed this information to his fans at "The Vampire Diaries" Convention in New Jersey.

Fifty Shades Source and Fifty Shades Film reported several tweets that confirmed this news:

@icebrat515: Ah @iansomerhalder is flying to La next week to meet with #50ShadesMovie people next week.

@IanforChristianGrey: omgggg Ian said he is going to la soon to meet with people for 50 shades of grey!!!!!!!!

@yvetteraven1: Ian threw it out to the fans to help him rehearse for Fifty Shades. #TVDCON #tvdnj" @FiftyShadesFilm. He said this during a press conference

"Fifty Shades of Grey," written by bestselling author E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey, and both explore Christian's world of BDSM (bondage, dominance, submission, masochism) while trying to understand their complicated relationship.

In the video, fans began clapping and hollering.

According to Examiner, Kimberly Perek attended the convention, she said Ian was asked by another fan if he was interested in playing Christian Grey. Perek said "fans were thrilled" and went on to say "we have been wanting information like this for so long so everyone flipped."

This news is very exciting for fans. However, producer Michael De Luca denied reports about this, and said they were just rumors.

"Haven't met, nothing scheduled, just dealing with prospective writers right now, thanks for being interested!" De Luca tweeted to a fan when asked about Somerhalder meeting with "people."

He then responded to another fan an hour later, "We haven't met on this, appears to be a rumor."

Recently on Twitter, producer Dana Brunetti let his fans know, "Cast of a film is usually decided on with a directors," which implies that casting cannot take place without a director, and screenwriter for that matter.

Also, in the video, it is not clear on what Somerhalder said to make the crowd go crazy. His speech is blurred. However, a fan did ask who he wanted to be Ana. His answer was also unclear to the question.

De Luca and Brunetti took to Twitter before to address rumors about the casting.

"All the rumors on #FiftyShades are just rumors... No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and a director first."

James recently also took to Twitter to address the casting rumors.

"I am not making any comments on casting the movie. No one is ruled out or in yet - far too early," she tweeted.

While fans attach their favorite stars' names to the two key roles, Emma Watson and Elizabeth Olsen addressed the rumors and said that they are not in talks for the role.

"I haven't read the book, I haven't a read a script, nothing," Watson told Entertainment Weekly in July. "There are so many movies you become attached to when I've literally never even received a phone call. It was the same way with 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' - I never even saw a script!"

Olsen said, "No! No! No!" when asked if she would play Anastasia.

"Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel seems to be embracing the idea of her fans wanting her to be Anastasia. She is also a huge fan favorite.

She acknowledged her fans on Twitter recently with a tweet, ""I see that lots of you wants me to play "Ana" in Fifty Shades of Grey. :)," Bledel wrote.
