'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Top Six Contenders for Christian Grey Include Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgard (POLL)

[UPDATE: VOTE HERE for new Christian Grey poll!]

Fans are shouting out their favorite stars to play Christian Grey, and it has become a pool of names.

Books & Review decided to create a poll on the six most favorite stars who have been linked to the key role of Christian.

The steamy "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed") tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey and both explore the world of BDSM (bondage, dominance, submission, masochism) while also trying to figure out their relationship.

The six favorite stars for Christian are Fitness star Jessie Pavelka, "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, "Immortals" star Henry Cavill, "True Blood" star Alexander Skasgard, "White Collar" star Matt Bomer, and "Transformers" star Shia LaBeouf (who recently became a hot topic).

Here's a little description of the six top contenders:

Ian Somerhalder, 33

Somerhalder, who plays Damon on the sexy vampire TV show, has been showing that he wants to play the role of 27-year-old Christian. Last month, he even held a sort of campaign on his Twitter, making it clear that he's more than qualified to take the role, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

It was recently reported that he was meeting with "Fifty Shades" people in L.A. to talk about his role.

Fans are dying for him to be the one. One commenter said, "Definitely Somerhalder! The way he plays Damon on the Vampire Diaries just makes him perfect for the part. He can do hot and cold easily, those grey eyes, that mischievous smile! He is very good at being cold and dominant whilst also being sensitive and caring at times." Another said, "Only Ian Somerhalder can pull off that look of Christian Grey!"

Henry Cavill, 29

Cavill has always been on the Christian Grey fan list. He played Theseus in "Immortals" and will star as Clark Kent in upcoming movie "Man of Steel."

He regained the lead in the race to play the sexy billionaire by showing off his sexiness in a 2008 cologne commercial that features "Superman" as a sharply dressed Christian Grey-to be about to board a helicopter emblazoned with a letter "G," according to Policy Mic.

Cavill was also the inspiration behind Edward Cullen from Stephanie Meyer's "The Twilight Saga." Christian Grey's character was inspired by Edward Cullen. James first wrote "Fifty Shades of Grey" as Twilight fan-fiction.

Fans are screaming for him. One commenter said, "Henry Cavill is pure perfection." Another simply said, " HENRY CAVILL IS PERFECT!! HE IS CHRISTIAN GREY! Oh my Fifty!!"

Matt Bomer, 34

Bomer has always been in the Christian Grey race. He stars as Neal Caffrey in "White Collar" and fans are drooling over him.

A debate sparked that he should not be cast as Christian because he is openly gay.

Bret Easton Ellis, who discarded Bomer to play the much coveted role.

Ellis criticized Bomer as a possibility for Christian because Bomer is gay, saying that it "complicates the role" and "it's about an intensely straight actor wanting absolutely to screw Ana Steele."

One commenter said, "Yes Henry Cavil is a good choice but have you seen Matt Bomer. He is my Christian Grey." Another said, "Before I knew they were making a movie, it was too easy to automatically picture Matt Bomer as Christian... He has a very natural seductive look, incredible body, and would probably exceed the expectations of everyone on how Christian Grey is portrayed."

Alexander Skarsgard, 35

This actor has been on the list from the beginning. At Comic-Con San Diego 2012, he revealed to fans that he hasn't read the book nor has he been offered a casting part.

Maybe raving fans could change the producer's minds.

One commenter said, "I only picture Alexander Skarsgard as Christian. I saw him as it the first time I read it." Another said, "I agree Alexander is the one and only Mr. Grey. He has sexuality and a presence on screen that just comes natural. For me, there is no one else. Give him the script already!" Another said, "Alexander Skarsgrad, has the perfect fit for the role. He could easy be a Dom (of course he could be mine). He is very thing that El.James describe for Christian. I see it everytime I read the books."

Jessie Pavelka, 29

Fans fervently put Pavelka in the spotlight for Christian Grey. He is known for his sexy, chiseled bod and grey eyes.

Pavelka is best known as the hunky trainer on the Lifetime show "DietTribe." He also starred in the movie "Friday Night Lights," and "12 Men of Christmas."

Gather Entertainment reported that although Pavelka does not have the same amount of acting experience as some other "Fifty Shades" nominees, he has the look for the part.

"He definitely has the right look for the role, and at least he's comfortable in front of a camera. As a trainer he also has plenty of experience getting uncomfortably close to women and making them sweat," Gather reported.

One commenter said, "Jessie Pavelka. Young, fresh, vibrant and oozes CTG." Another said, "Defiantly Jessie. i mean common guys ! Ian looks nothing like what Christian grey would look like!!! It's so far off! But Jessie i think if he grows his hair a little longer and gets that copper in his hair he will be perfect!"

Shia LaBeouf, 26

This unexpected contende, has made his way onto the list of stars to play the much coveted role of Christian. He recently been increasing in popularity due to his role in upcoming film "Nymphomaniac," produced by Lars von Trier, where he will reportedly shoot explicit sex scenes, "to his fans' delight and his girlfriend Karolyn Pho's heartbreak."

He also starred in the "Transformers" movies and "Disturbia."

"The risky, but potentially rewarding, career move places LaBeouf as one of the strongest contenders yet vying for the coveted role of S&M magnate Christian Grey," according to Policy Mic.

"LaBeouf's surge in the Christian Grey cast online speculation might put all the previous rumors and controversies to rest. The Transformers star has both blockbuster and independent film credibility and appeal. Whoever ends up cast as Christian Grey must not eclipse the role with an off-screen larger-than-life persona. At the same time, producers can't risk working with a totally unknown newcomer who would have difficulty attracting the audience to the box office."

"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, 26, recently commented about LaBeouf's recent admission that he's ready to do anything.

"[Shia would] do anything," Pattinson said when LaBeouf and Von Trier's collaboration was brought up in conversation during an interview with MTV News. "Shia did that [fully nude Sigur Rós] video already, he's already popped his cherry, but it's great."
