‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie Casting News: Ryan Gosling Stars in New Trailer (Video)

With the prospect of a "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie looming on the horizon, but with only the producers on board at this point, we're updated daily with new possibilities for casting, and rumors on the film's production.

So far, all the whispers have inspired a flood of fan-made "wish-list" trailers for the still unmade film. We've seen Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, and yesterday we even saw what a Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel pairing might look like. Today, we've got a new trailer starring Ryan Gosling as Christian Grey making his case for the role.

In the fan-made trailer, Gosling struts broodingly around an opulent mansion in a dapper suit, cries, gets whipped, and beds a brunette beauty -- sounds about right to us. Set to the song "Ave Maria," the trailer features black-and-white scenes from some of Gosling's movies, and surprisingly professional editing. The venetian blinds are an especially nice touch, and recall some of the same wealthy coldness and isolation delved into in "American Psycho."

The trailer even includes "reviews" for the still unproduced movie. Peter Travers really will think "Ryan Gosling is haunting." What a relief!

At any rate, it does make a compelling argument for Gosling being the best man to play the BDSM-practicing billionaire. But some fans might see Gosling as too much of a softie to spank a woman until she feels debased and abused - women want to think of him as the sweet, sensitive guy kissing his girl in the rain in "The Notebook."

Gosling also might be too busy with the other movies he's signed on for to star in "Fifty Shades of Grey" - he's even directing his first film entitled "How to Catch a Monster."

Of course, he could always just direct "Fifty Shades" as well. The movie will be rated R, so there probably won't be any hardcore sex scenes, or full-frontal nudity to scare him off. And even if there was, he proved that he can handle challenging romantic material in the movie "Blue Valentine."

Still, to keep the movie rated R, it's going to have to focus more on Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele's romance than their steamy trysts in the book. But who would play his Anastasia Steele? Gosling obviously has great chemistry with Emma Stone - he's got such a great rapport with her that they've worked together twice in the movies "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "The Gangster Squad." But then who could forget how trenchant the relationship was between Gosling and Michelle Williams in "Blue Valentine?" We haven't seen Williams' name thrown around much, and no doubt she could handle the weight of the role.

You can check out Ryan and Emma Stone in the fan-made trailer below to see what you think of that pairing. What do you think of the trailer? How does it stack up against the others? Is this is the best pairing yet? Who would you choose?
