'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie: Too Kinky for Film? Fans Rather See Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey on TV Show, HBO Series

Fans can't wait to see the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie. They already know who they want to play key characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

However, some fans are seeing the racy novels in a different light. Rather than a movie, some fans want to see the books become an HBO series.

The steamy "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed") tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey and both explore the world of BDSM while also trying to figure out their relationship.

HBO shows, such as "Game of Thrones," "True Blood," and new series "Girls," are all on HBO for a reason. HBO's series are known for explicit scenes and cinematic view. Who wouldn't want to watch Christian and Anastasia get down and dirty like in the movies?

The good thing with a series is that viewers will look forward to a new episode every week. But is it better than going to the movies and watching a two hour film and buying the DVD after because it's so good?

Fifty Shades Film had some commenters on their website expressing how they think "Fifty Shades" should become a HBO series.

Krista wrote, "As great as it is to have a movie in the works, I would of loved to have a HBO series. That way we could enjoy it longer, and the story could be told. Anyone else think this? Will a movie be able to do it justice?"

Karen agreed, "That is a fantastic idea! Just as I do not want the books to end, I would not think an hour and 45 minutes would do it justice!"

Lisa L. said, "That is a great Idea! I actually emailed E.L. James about a month ago about doing 50 Shades of Grey mini-series on HBO or Showtime. I don't think a movie can do it justice. But seeing it every week for about 5 years or so would be awesome then I told her she can sell the DVD for each series. I really wish they would reconsider."

"That is exactly the same thing i was thinking," Elka Lang wrote. "A movie would not do the story justice; there is so much passion and story behind it that a 2-3 hour film is not enough. Also, i can see the ratings being hire than the Super Bowl :)"

JillC said, "Yes, I agree. As much as I would love the fact that they're making it into a movie, I really just don't know how they're going to pull it off under a rated "R". If it were an HBO or Showtime series, I could at least enjoy it in my own home instead of blushing like crazy in a movie theater. Plus they can make it truer to the book on HBO where as they would probably have to sensor it to keep it rated R in theaters. Love the idea!"

One writer, however, loved the idea of the movies.

"I think 3 movies would be GREAT!!!" Kimberley said. "They were able to pull off quite a few racy scenes in 9 1/2 weeks without being ....too raunchy for film!!! Getting the right director and they could pull it off : )"

As much as some fans want to see Ana and Christian every week instead of once every two years in the theaters, James and the producers have to consider not only U.S. fans, but U.K. fans as well.

"I'm in the UK and we don't get HBO apart from on Sky and I don't have Sky.... I'd much rather have a movie," writer Emmylou commented.

Also, there are already movie rights. Producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are not waiting for a screenwriter and a director.
