Hate Reading? Here are 5 Books that Will Change Your Mind

Non-readers have their own reasons they hate to engage in the activity. It may be because books give them terrible headaches or absolute boredom. Although, others believe that reading isn't for everyone, these five titles will bring someone who hates reading to open a paperback.

1. "Crazy Rich Asians" by Kevin Kwan

This book isn't a complicated read at all. It is a light-hearted, humorous tome that lays out the story of two unbelievably rich Chinese clans that spend all their time counting their money and backstabbing each other. It involves the most insensitive of kin and unduly serpentine jetsetters.

2. "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton

Some prefer the movie adaptations of their source material, but this isn't true for this book. It was popularized by movies directed by Steven Spielberg, and since many non-readers likely devoured on those flicks already, it is high time to check out where it all started.

Bustle says that this is a perfect read for those who hate doing it simply because flipping through it will feel like watching movie considering the pace it was written with.

3. "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" by Edward Albee

Those with a special abhorrence on reading but love theater plays or have been planning to get into them will surely find love in books with this tome. According to Bustle, this book contains "the greatest dialogue ever written," all uttered by the most insane characters one will ever come across in their literary life.

This book should also do a good job in making a non-reader, who is isn't a fan of lengthy and vivid passages and loves to make shortcuts by finding the nearest quotation marks a member of the reading crusade.

4. "Cartwheel" by Jennifer duBois

Those who have seen "Gone Girl" and loved it will have a great time digging into "Cartwheel." This is the haunting and suspenseful story of American foreign exchange student, who is accused of murdering her roommate days after she touched down at Buenos Aires.

As per New York Times, non-readers who follow murder mysteries and conspiracies will be hooked on this one, especially because it appears hinged on the real-life story of American student Amanda Knox, who was blamed for the death of her fellow study-abroad student Meredith while they were in Italy.

5. "Bloodchild and Other Stories" by Octavia Butler

Non-readers won't likely love reading overnight or after one novel. This is why the legendary author's collection of science fiction stories will be the perfect gateway. Not only will it jumpstart their reading journey but the book will also be a treat to sci-fi buffs who never came around tearing through a book.
