'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Fans Are 'Moving On' From Film, Think E.L. James, Producers Are Boring Despite New Christian Grey Contenders

Another star has been added to the long and now over-rated list of stars to play Christian Grey, but fans are getting pretty bored.

"Gossip Girl" star Chase Crawford is now a possibility for the 27-year-old sexy billionaire.

The Examiner featured him as Christian in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie, saying that he looked "gorgeous and polished as ever on the red carpet for the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M Global Launch Event on Oct. 23." He wrote a dark suit and open collared white shirt, and has been on the CW show for six seasons.

Crawford plays Nate Archibald in "Gossip Girl," which his character is described as "the perfect 'Golden Boy' of the Upper East Side, always being fought over by the prominent female characters."

"He portrays a very wealthy and confidant character on the show, which is very similar to Christian Grey. Chace also has some attributes that make him just right for the role, including piercing blue eyes, a 6 foot stature and already toned physique," the Examiner said. "The star also happens to be 27, the same age as the mercurial billionaire Christian Grey."

Although not constantly listed as a Christian fan favorite, Crawford has been in a few headlines.

Crawford was named in Cosmopolitan's list of "9 Guys Who Should Play Christian Grey," saying, "we NEED our Chace fix. Yes please!"

The star is also listed on IMDb's list of "My Christian Grey Nominees." Crawford is also featured on a Pinterest page with two pictures up for the role.

Many other stars are up for the role including huge fan favorites Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson, and Henry Cavill. These may be one of someone's fantasy Christian Grey, but fans want to know who the REAL Christian Grey will be. When will producers and "Fifty Shades" author E.L. James announce some REAL casting possibilities for the role?

We here at Books & Review came across some commenters who were just too tired of all these polls and casting rumors. Even though polls are fun, fans want to know what's really going on. More commenters have put in their two-cents about casting taking way too long.

One commenter said, "The process does feel slow, but then it always does when your waiting for a pot of water to boil.  But it seems like people are moving on with their lives too. I know Team 50 wants to make good decisions, but they are also losing momentum.  We can only speculate for so long before we move on to something else."

This commenter doesn't like the actors who are up for the role of Christian. She said, "I think the people in the polls for Christian Grey are ridiculous. Ian Somerhalder needs too much eyeliner. Matt Bomer doesn't come across as very intimidating. Ryan Gosling is a great actor, but I can't imagine him as Christian Grey." Her pick is "Supernatural" star Jensen Ackles, but then she went on to say, "Who really cares who plays Christian Grey. The right director can make any supermodel with no acting experience be an excellent Christian. But how long does this process take? Look how successful Twilight is. Kristen Stewart has two expressions, but fans fell in love with her anyway. It was successful because filmmakers didn't sit on their hands to make it. This needs to happen soon or not at all. People move on. I'm getting tired of going on line to hear nothing but fans' opinion."

One fan said that they "doubt fans expect an outright endorsement, just a little engagement" from James and the producers. Another fan agreed, saying that those in-charge should "speed the process along and maybe be more engaging with the fans."

Another said, "I think I'll just stick to having read the books. I used to read the producers tweets after they were hired but gave it up shortly after. Aside from their boring tweets, it quickly became apparent that they really didn't want to engage with the fans and did not appreciate any fan involvement. I think they would just like everyone to go away so they can make their version of The Notebook. One of the producers in particular came off very unprofessional."
