HTC Windows Phone 8X vs Samsung ATIV Odyssey vs Nokia Lumia 920: Release Date, Specs, Price, U.S. Carriers, Which One is Best For You?

Microsoft is ready to take on competition with its new Windows Phone 8 lineup.

New users want to know which smartphone is better for them when trying out the new Windows 8 software.

HTC Windows Phone 8X

The HTC Phone 8X features a Qualcomm S4 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor with 16GB storage and 1GB RAM. It has a 4.3-inch super LCD 2 touch screen with 1280 x 720 resolution with HD 720p resolution Gorilla Glass 2. It has an 8-megapixel camera with a dedicated HTC ImageChip and a 1800 mAh battery. It also comes with Beats Audio built-in. It comes in various colorful designs.

The 8X will be available with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

For T-Mobile, the Phone 8X will hit shelves Nov. 14. It will cost $199 after a $50 mail-in-rebate.

As for Verizon, the carrier also plans to carry the 8X for $199 on a two-year contract by Thanksgiving. The phone will come in blue, red, and black.

According to TechnoBloom, the HTC Windows Phone 8X may hit shelves on Nov. 12.

"This information came from our sources that got their hands on a very confidential Minimum Advertized Price (MAP) list of the wireless provider. In fact, the November 12 release date of the HTC Windows Phone 8X could very well turn out to be spot on because this coincides with a previous tip given to us that the wireless provider is already training its employees about the Windows Phone 8 devices that it is expected to launch," TechnoBloom said.

AT&T but hasn't announced a release date for the HTC 8X, but Best Buy is selling the HTC Windows Phone 8X on their website with 8GB for AT&T. It has a $99.99 price tag for a two-year contract and says it will ship when available. It only comes in Purple for now.

Samsung ATIV Odyssey

Samsung is also a part of the Windows Phone 8 frenzy. Not to be confused with the ATIV S, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced on Oct. 29 that the Odyssey will run Windows 8 and will be coming to U.S. carrier Verizon in December, according to MobilenApps.

The Odyssey will have a 4.65-inch SuperAMOLED HD display with a 1.5Ghz processor. It will feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It will also pack in NFC and 4G LTE support.

Nokia Lumia 920

The Lumia 920 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. It takes many of the physical design elements from previous generations of Lumia handsets, but improves on internal hardware and display technology. Some of the new tech specs include PureMotion HD+ 4.5 inch display (1280 x 768 resolution), Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, NFC chip with 332ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 2,000mAh battery, and Qi wireless charging. Nokia is touting the Lumia 920′s premier feature as its new camera lens, the Carl Zeiss lens. It has rounded edges and colorful covers with a PureView camera.

Exclusive with AT&T, the website BGR said they confirmed with "multiple sources" that AT&T currently is planning to launch the highly anticipated Lumia 920 on Nov. 11, and that users can get it in three colors.

The Lumia 920 appeared on Best Buy last Sunday. However, the phone had been taken down. It was selling for $149.99 with a two-year contract with AT&T, which is $50 cheaper than Apple's iPhone 5. The colors were Black, Cyan, Yellow, White, and Red.

On its website, AT&T said that the highly anticipated Lumia 920 is "coming soon," sometime in November.

Both the Lumia 920 and HTC Windows Phone 8X have been receiving rave reviews for display, camera performance, and the color selection. The Odyssey may also join these positive reviews.
